Message commun pour la guérison des blessures et un avenir partagé dans la péninsule coréenne

Un message de paix œcuménique commun a été rendu public à l’occasion du 70e anniversaire de l’éclatement de la guerre de Corée lors d’un événement diffusé en direct le 22 juin. Le message, coparrainé par les Églises et conseils des Églises du monde entier, et plus particulièrement des pays ayant participé à la guerre de Corée, décrit cette dernière comme un «conflit effroyablement destructeur» des suites duquel aucun traité de paix n’a abouti.

Dr Olav Fykse Tveit says this is the time that "we should remind one another that we believe in God as the “Good shepherd” who promised to be with us also in times of crisis,” especially in this time of the global COVID-19 crisis.

South Sudan Church leaders welcome new cabinet

South Sudanese church leaders have welcomed a new cabinet, which the country’s president Salva Kiir Mayardit announced on 12 March.

The unveiling of the cabinet ended months of anxious waiting for a new unity government which was mandated by a 2018 peace pact, known as the Revitalised Agreement for the Resolution of Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan. The government has 34 ministers and 10 deputies.

Erich Weingartner: “Peace needs an emotional bond” on the Korean Peninsula

Erich Weingartner, who previously helped lead the World Council of Churches (WCC) Commission of the Churches on International Affairs, has also represented CanKor, a Canadian interactive resource on North Korea. From the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada, he was also founding head of the Food Aid Liaison Unit of the World Food Programme.
