Du 28 novembre au 1er décembre, une délégation du COE a visité l’Irlande afin d’explorer des façons pour la communauté œcuménique internationale de mieux soutenir la communauté fraternelle d’Églises et de travailler avec elle dans le cadre du pèlerinage de justice et de paix.

The Ecumenical Disability Advocates Network of the WCC together with the Caribbean arm of the Council for World Mission convened a two-day seminar on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities recently.

The Ecumenical Disability Advocates Network of the WCC in collaboration with the Council for World Mission and International Disability Alliance hosted a two-day seminar on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Supported by the World Council of Churches' Ecumenical Disability Advocates Network, people with disabilities are welcomed at the Bio Intensive Agricultural Training Centre run by the Methodist Church of Kenya. People with disabilities learn livelihood skills with other members of the community at the Centre, contributing towards local development.

Dans le cadre d’un projet soutenu par le Réseau œcuménique de défense des personnes handicapées du COE, des personnes handicapées sont accueillies au Centre de formation agricole bio-intensive, qui est géré par l’Église méthodiste du Kenya. Les personnes handicapées y acquièrent des compétences pour gagner leur vie, aux côtés d’autres membres de la communauté du Centre, contribuant ainsi au développement local.

In the wake of recent crisis with the refugees in Europe, it is “absolutely and critically necessary that all European states take their proper responsibility in terms of reception and support for people seeking refuge, safety and a better future for themselves and their families. This cannot be left only to the states where they enter first,” says the WCC general secretary.

Despite significant steps taken by the Kenyan government, coordinator of the WCC Ecumenical Disability Advocates Network Dr Samuel Kabue says that “more needs to be done” so that people with disability can enjoy their rights.

Meeting from 17 to 24 June, the newly reconstituted Commission on Faith and Order of the WCC has begun to define its principal trajectories for ecumenical study and common activity from 2015 until the next WCC Assembly in 2020.

Réunie du 17 au 24 juin, la nouvelle Commission de Foi et constitution du COE a commencé à définir ses principaux axes d’étude œcuménique et d’activités communes pour la période allant de 2015 à la prochaine Assemblée du COE, en 2020.

Violence against children was one emerging issue discussed at the Christian Conference of Asia's assembly. “It is still a sad reality in large parts of the world, but momentum to end violence against children is growing within governments and communities, amongst parents and religious leaders. This is a good thing since it takes everyone to make a change”, says Lauren Rumble, UNICEF’s chief of child protection in Indonesia.

C’est excellent, car c’est en nous unissant qu’on induira un changement», indique Lauren Rumble, du Fonds des Nations Unies pour l’enfance (UNICEF) en Indonésie.

As the members of the WCC Central Committee return to their home communities, they will continue some key questions related to their pilgrimage of justice and peace.
