This is one positive thing we learned from COVID-19: we don’t need to fly around the world anymore. That is…provided there is good internet connection, which is not always the case in all countries.

Climate pilgrims leave the ferry terminal in Newcastle.

On the way to COP26, climate pilgrims arrive in England after ferry crossing

The 5th Ecumenical Pilgrimage for Climate Justice from Poland to Glasgow crossed the English Channel from IJmuiden in the Netherlands to Newcastle-upon-Tyne in England on 11 October. They were given a warm welcome on site.

Lorraine Netro, who was raised in the Gwich’in First Nation of Old Crow, Yukon (Canada), is part of an indigenous community—but she’s also a global citizen.

“Today’s Arctic peoples are important members of global society,” Netro said. “The survival of Arctic cultures and communities remains tied to the wildlife and landscape of the Arctic Refuge.”

An ecumenical delegation composed of representatives from the Conference of European Churches and the Commission of the Bishops’ Conference of the European Union met in Helsinki on 12 July with Pekka Haavisto, Finnish minister of Foreign Affairs, to exchange on the priorities of the Finnish Presidency of the EU Council.

WCC conference considers “Just Peace with Earth”

A conference organized by the World Council of Churches (WCC) and hosted by the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Iceland under the theme “Just Peace with Earth” was offered in conjunction with the Arctic Assembly, the largest annual international gathering focused on the future of the Arctic held Oct. 13-15.

Conferencia del CMI sobre el tema de "la paz justa en la Tierra"

Junto con la Asamblea del Círculo Ártico, la mayor reunión internacional anual sobre el futuro del Ártico, que tuvo lugar del 13 al 15 de octubre, se celebró una conferencia organizada por el Consejo Mundial de Iglesias (CMI) y auspiciada por la Iglesia Evangélica Luterana de Islandia con el tema de “la paz justa en la Tierra”.
