With World Food Day soon approaching, the World Council of Churches and a range of ecumenical organizations and partners invite people and churches around the globe to pray and act for an end to hunger.

The world's food systems are broken, and God is calling humanity to fix them, participants heard at an online meeting of faith-based organizations, titled “Facilitating a Global Dialogue.”

World Council of Churches central committee moderator Dr Agnes Abuom will serve as a panel speaker on food security during an event hosted by the Primate's World Relief and Development Fund, based in Canada.

The fourth edition of the World Council of Churches (WCC) Eco-School on Water, Food and Climate Justice will be held 18-24 January 2021 in the Pacific region in five countries (Fiji, Tonga, Vanuatu, Tuvalu & Solomon Islands).

The World Council of Churches (WCC) welcomed and celebrated the award of the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize to the UN World Food Programme. “We express our gratitude and congratulations to the leadership and each staff member of the World Food Programme,” said Rev. Prof. Dr Ioan Sauca, WCC interim general secretary. “This vital multilateral organisation comprises many dedicated people, working in the remotest and most vulnerable regions of the world, affected by conflict, climate catastrophe and economic crises.”

An economist trained at Cambridge University and the University Sains Malaysia, Martin Khor had led the civil society movement in Malaysia and internationally for decades, on issues of economic, ecological and health justice, founding and leading several key organisations and mentoring various leaders around the world.
