Reinforcing the traditional role of faith communities in offering sanctuary and, indeed hospitality to refugees, 90 faith-based leaders today committed to offering their continued and additional support to refugees, including children, on their journey to safety, including in reception and admission, meeting protection or service delivery needs and supporting communities to find solutions such as private sponsorship or scholarship programmes.

Dear Muslim sisters and brothers,

It is a joy to extend cordial greetings to Muslims around the world on behalf of the World Council Churches (WCC) as you have been observing the month of Ramadan and as you will celebrate Eid al-Fitr by the end of this week. May this be a blessed season for you.

The annual meeting of the staff members of the World Council of Churches (WCC) and the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue (DID), Vatican, took place at the Ecumenical Institute at Bossey on 26-27 April 2023.

In this divided and troubled world, WCC (World Council of Churches) and CID (Centre for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue) were able to meet for the 10^th Dialogue at The Ecumenical Institute Bossey, Switzerland.

Applications are open for a Young Adults Training for Religious Amity program (YATRA) to be held in October.

Organized by the World Council of Churches in partnership with the Christian Conference of Asia, Church of Christ in Thailand, and ACT Alliance, the interreligious training programme is named “YATRA”—a common term for pilgrimage in many contexts and languages.

The theme for 2022 is “Youth Interreligious Engagement, Advocating Human Dignity.”

The annual meeting of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue (PCID) and the Office of Interreligious Dialogue and Cooperation (IRDC) of the World Council of Churches (WCC) took place at the PCID Office on 24-25 March 2022.

As people of faith, we join in committing to pray and act against hunger at this time when 811m people worldwide go to bed hungry each night, hunger has increased globally by 25% since 2019, and across the globe more than 41m people–around half of them children–are at risk of falling into famine in 43 countries.

Scottish and UK religious leaders have signed a declaration urging governments to take transformational climate action at the COP26 in November.

 The World Council of Churches (WCC) is inviting young people to bring fresh perspectives on “The Future of Interreligious Dialogue” by participating in an essay competition to mark the 50th anniversary of the WCC’s Office of Interreligious Dialogue and Cooperation.

The World Council of Churches (WCC) has announced an essay competition for youth who want to reflect on the theme “The Future of Interreligious Dialogue.” The contest is being held to mark the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the WCC’s Office of Interreligious Dialogue and Cooperation.

The World Council of Churches (WCC) and the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue (PCID) released a joint document, “Serving a Wounded World in Interreligious Solidarity: A Christian Call to Reflection and Action During COVID-19 and Beyond.” Its purpose is to encourage churches and Christian organizations to reflect on the importance of interreligious solidarity in a world wounded by the COVID-19 pandemic. The document offers a Christian basis for interreligious solidarity that can inspire and confirm the impulse to serve a world wounded not only by COVID-19 but also by many other wounds.

This year, WCC addresses racism as the thematic focus of the Pilgrimage of Justice and Peace (PJP)- this is expressed in the design of pilgrim team visits, the WCC commitment to human rights; work on migration, racial discrimination and statelessness; work with Indigenous Peoples; and cooperation with the United Nations.

The World Council of Churches (WCC) was represented at a panel discussion at the 5th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue in Baku, Azerbaijan on 2-3 May.Rev Dr Peniel Rufus Rajkumar, WCC programme coordinator for Interreligious Dialogue and Cooperation, was part of a panel entitled “A gap to be bridged, An Investment to be made.”

Applications are now open for YATRA (Youth in Asia Training for Religious Amity), an interreligious training programme launched by the World Council of Churches (WCC) in 2014 following the 10th General Assembly of the WCC held in Busan, Republic of Korea.
