Début du pèlerinage œcuménique pour défendre la cause de la justice climatique lors des négociations de l’ONU sur le climat

Un groupe de pèlerins œcuméniques est parti pour Katowice, en Pologne, ville hôte de la Conférence mondiale sur le climat 2018 où se dérouleront des négociations à haut niveau concernant la préservation de la création. Ce Pèlerinage œcuménique pour la justice climatique, qui est parti de Bonn, en Allemagne, le 9 septembre, a pour slogan «Alors va!» (Geht doch!, en allemand).

Faith and Water: Translating words into action

“Water is a gift of God, a gift of creation, and it is necessary for survival,” said World Council of Churches (WCC) general secretary Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit, introducing through a video message a World Water Week public showcase on “Water and Faith: Acting in Partnership to achieve SDG 6” in Stockholm, Sweden.

Why faith matters for clean water

On Thursday, 30 August, the World Council of Churches will co-organize a showcase at the World Water Week in Stockholm in partnership with Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) Global Water partnership (GWP), Church of Sweden, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and Swedish Institute Alexandria (SIA), where high level faith leaders and water management experts will gather to share wisdom and perspectives on one of today’s most urgent environmental issues: How to ensure access to safe drinking water resources throughout the world.

WCC welcomes UN Environment executive director Erik Solheim

Two Norwegian world leaders met in Geneva to discuss environmental issues and open up for closer collaboration. Erik Solheim, UN Environment executive director and under-secretary-general of the United Nations visited the World Council of Churches (WCC) in the Ecumenical Centre in Geneva, Switzerland on 10 April, where he discussed with WCC general secretary Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit both the meaning and importance of working together on environmental issues to bring hope to the world.

Erik Solheim, directeur exécutif du Programme des Nations Unies pour l’environnement et secrétaire général adjoint des Nations Unies, a rendu visite au COE au Centre œcuménique à Genève, en Suisse, le 10 avril dernier, où il a parlé, avec le secrétaire général du COE, le pasteur Olav Fykse Tveit, tant de la signification que de l’importance d'une action commune sur les questions environnementales, source d'espérance pour le monde.

Network of Christian entrepreneurs commits to faith in business

Faith groups gathered at the Ecumenical Centre on 16 January to evaluate from faith and human rights perspectives the outcomes of the 23rd Conference of Parties (COP 23) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. They discussed the role of faith-based organizations in the Talanoa Dialogue emerging from COP 23 and began to cooperate for effective and meaningful faith-based engagement in COP 24.
