The Protestant Church in Germany and Palermo (Italy) Mayor Leoluca Orlando have issued a joint declaration calling for a European distribution mechanism for boat refugees.

Currently there is no Europe-wide distribution mechanism to accommodate refugees rescued in the Mediterranean in the European Union. The declaration calls for a political emergency solution this summer, and urges a group of European Union member states to act as a “coalition of the willing” and develop a sustainable migration policy.

La Iglesia Protestante en Alemania y el alcalde de Palermo (Italia), Leoluca Orlando, han emitido una declaración conjunta para pedir un mecanismo europeo de distribución de los refugiados del mar.

Actualmente no existe un mecanismo de distribución a nivel europeo para alojar a los refugiados que son rescatados en el Mediterráneo en los países de la Unión Europea. La declaración pide una solución política de emergencia para este verano e insta a un grupo de Estados miembros de la Unión Europea a actuar como una “coalición de la voluntad” y formular una política de migración sostenible.

La Asociación Mundial de Comunicación Cristiana (WACC por su sigla en inglés) tuvo un papel destacado en el Foro Mundial de Medios de Comunicación de Deutsche Welle (DW) celebrado en Bonn, Alemania, los días 27 y 28 de mayo.
En la conferencia participaron más de 2.000 profesionales de medios de comunicación, formuladores de políticas, agentes de políticas y la sociedad civil, la cultura y la educación, el mundo empresarial y la ciencia, representantes de 140 países.

The World Association for Christian Communication (WACC) was featured in the DW Global Media Forum held 27-28 May in Bonn, Germany. As a meeting of the World Council of Churches (WCC) Commission on World Mission and Evangelism convened in Helsinki, Finland on 16-22 May, leaders reflected on the way forward for the ecumenical movement after the commission’s Arusha conference in March.
In opening remarks, Dr Agnes Aboum, moderator of the WCC Central Committee, reflected on what she described on as “landmark” conference in Arusha, which drew together more than 1,000 people and resulted in an Arusha Call to Discipleship.

“Come and See - A Theological invitation to the Pilgrimage of Justice and Peace,” a text newly published by the World Council of Churches (WCC) Faith and Order Commission, draws from different traditions in order to make the case for common witness. The document was presented and launched at the meeting with the WCC Commission on World Mission and Evangelism (CWME). The CWME Commission gather in Helsinki, Finland 16-22 May, 2019 to evaluate and reflect on the Conference of World Mission and Evangelism that took place in Arusha (Tanzania) and its future work.
