Faith-based voices heard in Bangkok

Over one hundred faith-based organizations from Christian, Jewish, Muslim and Buddhist traditions gathered at the 15th International AIDS Conference in Bangkok to make their voices heard on issues related to HIV/AIDS.

WCC general secretary makes first visit to churches in Asia and the Pacific

On his first trip to the Asia and Pacific regions since taking office, WCC general secretary Rev. Dr Samuel Kobia will visit member churches and ecumenical organizations in Hong Kong, Australia and Fiji from 5 to 15 July. Kobia will also spend time with refugees, asylum-seekers and indigenous communities in Australia, and focus on HIV/AIDS in the Pacific.

HIV/AIDS, 2006 assembly, and public issues on WCC executive's agenda

Two highlights at the next 17-20 February 2004 meeting of the World Council of Churches (WCC) executive committee will be an in-depth presentation of WCC work on HIV/AIDS, and the formal installation of the council's new general secretary, Rev. Dr Samuel Kobia. The committee will also review the progress of work to prepare the next WCC assembly, and consider actions on public issues.
