The World Council of Churches observes the annual World AIDS Day.

Under the 2018 theme of "Know your status", World AIDS Day is an opportunity to remember the people who have been lost to the epidemic, to give thanks for the progress made and make new commitments to ensuring no one is left behind.

Led by the WCC-Ecumenical Advocacy Alliance, a children’s letter-writing event will take place on 30 November at the Ecumenical Centre in Geneva, to call on governments to fulfil their commitments in responding to the HIV epidemic, including increased efforts to reach the 9.4 million people living with HIV who are not aware that they are living with the virus and the estimated 19.4 million people living with HIV who do not have a suppressed viral load.

A prayer service will follow at the Ecumenical Centre in Geneva on Monday 3 December at 08.30.
