Inter-Religious Ceremony for Peace in Solidarity with Refugees

Refugees, regionally diverse international and local religious leaders, faith representatives and institutions will gather for a special ceremony of inter-religious prayer, co-curated by the Plateforme InterReligieuse de Genève, and the World Council of Churches, as part of the event “Religious Leaders Unite for Climate Peace in Solidarity with Refugees”, linked to the Global Refugee Forum.

Religious leaders will gather on 12 December for an event linked to the Global Refugee Forum. Hosted by the UNHCR, the World Council of Churches (WCC), and Religions for Peace (RfP) at the Ecumenical Centre, Geneva, the programme is entitled: “Religious Leaders Unite for Climate Peace in Solidarity with Refugees.”

Refugees, regionally diverse international and local religious leaders, faith representatives and institutions will gather for a special ceremony of inter-religious prayer, co-curated by the Plateforme InterReligieuse de Genève, and the World Council of Churches.

An inter-religious prayer and music will draw together facets from many of the worlds religions.

One of the concluding prayers will read: May all living beings live in security and in peace – beings who are frail or strong, tall or short, big or small, visible or not visible, near or far away, already born or yet to be born. May all of them dwell in perfect tranquility. Let no one do harm to anyone. Let no one put the life of anyone in danger. Let no one, out of anger or ill will, wish anyone any harm.”

The event is officially linked to the UNHCR Global Refugee Forum (GRF) 2023, which begins on 13 December.

Date and time: 12 December, 14:00-15:00
Location: Ecumenical Centre in Geneva. The event will be live-streamed on www.oikoumene.org/live.
