The World Council of Churches and the World Association for Christian Communication
invite to a screening of the documentary
on the role of the churches in combating abuses of the military dictatorship in Uruguay.

The film aims to recall and collect stories of people who, in the 60s, 70s and 80s, in Uruguay and Latin America, lived a context of dialogue between social, political and religious movements that wanted to promote social transformation in the Uruguayan context. It is an investigation of original and unpublished archives of that time that provides a new look at some facts, beyond the classical dichotomous approach.

The film was produced with the support of FAP – Fondation pour l’Aide au Protestantisme Reformé, the Presidency of Uruguay, the Federal Human Rights Secretariat of Uruguay, the Roman Catholic Bishops Conference of the United States and the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church.

This documentary was presented in Uruguay with a lot of audience and is currently being presented also in Argentina and the River Plate region.

“Fe en la Resistencia” is produced by Nicolas Iglesias Schneider and features many people linked to the WCC and the churches in Geneva, including the proactive role played by WCC general secretary Emilio Castro.
