To raise awareness across the world for the plight of the Sudanese people due to a 12-month armed conflict, the World Council of Churches is organizing a webinar to report on the learnings during the recent visit to Sudan.

The World Council of Churches (WCC), with the Laudato Si’ Movement and other partners, will cohost a seminar in Assisi, Italy, on 15-16 March. The World Social Forum (WSF) 2024 is scheduled to take place from February 15-19 in Nepal. The WSF serves as an open space and platform for the convergence of a diverse range of participants, including social movements, laborers, farmers, civil society groups, marginalized communities, and those affected by the impacts of neoliberal capitalism and privatization. 

The World Council of Churches (WCC) Commission on Faith and Order will convene in Tondano, North Sulawesi, Indonesia, from 2-7 February for its first in-person meeting since being elected by the WCC central committee in June 2023. 

A webinar on 8 February, “From Nicaea, Walking Together to Unity: the beginning of a new beginning,” will offer deep reflections on the Council of Nicaea and its enduring legacy for Christians today.

On 18 January, the World Council of Churches (WCC) and The Clewer Initiative will co-host a webinar on combating modern slavery. The event introduces “True Freedom,” a newly launched Lent resource designed to empower churches, organisations, and individuals in the fight against modern slavery.

From September 1 to October 4, Christians around the world are praying and caring for creation. It’s the “Season of Creation”. The beginning and the end date of Season of Creation are linked with the concern for creation in the Eastern and the Western traditions of Christianity, respectively.

An ecumenical prayer on 28 July will express love and solidarity for the churches and people of Sudan.

The launch of a new book, "Penser les relations écologiques en théologie à l'ère de l'Anthropocène" (Eng: "Reflecting on Ecological Relations in Theology in the Anthropocene Era"), will take place during the second seminar on eco-theology on 5th July from 18:00 to 20:00 at the Salle II and III in Ecumenical Centre in Geneva.

Beyond the inflicted traumata and loss of lives it gave many schools a thrust towards online education which otherwise would not have been able to continue. The time had come to reflect together on the pedagogical challenges of the changed situation for theological education.

On 5 June 2023, WCC and partners will introduce, through a webinar, the official Season of Creation Celebration Guide with a wealth of resources for prayer, sustainability initiatives, and advocacy.

An online meeting planned for 25 May, titled “Exploring the nexus between racism, xenophobia and the AfCTA, and AU free movement protocol,” will mark Africa Day.
