The World Council of Churches (WCC) hosted the 11th Ecumenical Global Health Partners Meeting on 26 April. The online meeting gave WCC and its partners an opportunity to share strategic directions on health and healing programmes for the period 2023-2030.

A “Water Justice Manifesto”—signed by 500 organizations including the World Council of Churches—was presented at the UN Water Conference on 23 March, from the General Assembly Plenary hall  podium,  at the high-level segment, by the People’s Water Forum members. 

Durante el debate sobre los derechos humanos y la fístula obstétrica en el 52º período de sesiones del Consejo de Derechos Humanos de la ONU, el Consejo Mundial de Iglesias (CMI) y sus asociados ecuménicos exhortaron a los gobiernos a que presten más atención a la prevención de la fístula obstétrica en sus políticas, planes estratégicos y presupuestos.

Bei der Debatte über Menschenrechte und Geburtsfisteln während der 52. Sitzung des UNO-Menschenrechtsrates rief der Ökumenische Rat der Kirchen (ÖRK) zusammen mit seinen ökumenischen Partnern die Regierungen dazu auf, der Prävention von Geburtsfisteln in ihren Maßnahmen, Strategien und Budgets mehr Bedeutung einzuräumen.

Dans le cadre des débats de la 52e session du Conseil des droits de l’homme des Nations Unies sur les droits humains et la fistule obstétricale, le Conseil œcuménique des Églises (COE) et ses partenaires œcuméniques ont appelé les gouvernements à porter une plus grande attention à la prévention de la fistule obstétricale dans leurs politiques, leurs plans stratégiques et leurs budgets.

The World Council of Churches (WCC) Ecumenical Water Network and its partner organizations hosted a hybrid side event, “Faith Community is a ‘Blue Community,” on 22 March in conjunction with the UN Water Conference in New York City.Prof. Pedro Arrojo-Agudo, UN Special Rapporteur, human right to water, opened the event with a video message on how this is the first time in almost 50 years that the United Nations has convened a global event to reflect on the global water crisis—a crisis that finds 2 billion people without access to clean water, and 4 billion without access to adequate sanitation.

During the debate on human rights and obstetric fistula at the 52nd session of the UN Human Rights Council, the World Council of Churches (WCC) with its ecumenical partners called upon governments to pay more attention to the prevention of obstetric fistula in their policies, strategic plans, and budgets.

World Council of Churches (WCC) general sectary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay delivered a video message to the United Nations 2023 Water Conference on behalf of the global fellowship of 580 million Christians. The event will take place 22-24 March, in New York.

A two-day capacity building in India held at the Jeypore Evangelical Lutheran Church (JELC) focused on water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH). Held 4-5 January, the event drew about 400 pastors and lay people.
