En nombre de las iglesias miembros del Consejo Mundial de Iglesias (CMI), el secretario general del CMI, Rev. World Council of Churches (WCC) general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay, on behalf of WCC member churches, said that the WCC cannot reconcile the Decree of the XXV World Russian People's Council describing the conflict in Ukraine as a “Holy War.”

Su Beatitud el metropolitano Epifanio de Kiev y toda Ucrania visitó el Consejo Mundial de Iglesias (CMI) el 10 de abril a petición del secretario general del CMI, Rev. Prof. Dr. Jerry Pillay, para hablar de la situación actual en Ucrania, el papel de la Iglesia Ortodoxa de Ucrania (OCU, por su sigla en inglés) en el trabajo por la paz, la continua participación del CMI para hacer frente a la guerra y el proceso de adhesión al CMI. 

His Beatitude Metropolitan Epiphany of Kyiv and All Ukraine visited the World Council of Churches (WCC) on 10 April at the request of the WCC general secretary, the Rev. Prof Dr Jerry Pillay, to discuss the current situation in Ukraine, the role of the Orthodox Church in Ukraine (OCU) in working toward peace, the continued involvement of the WCC in addressing the war, and the process for membership with the WCC.

On the second anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, World Council of Churches general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay lamented the destruction of so many lives and called for an immediate end to the conflict.

Prof. Dr. Jerry Pillay, denunció la incesante campaña rusa para aterrorizar al pueblo de Ucrania “como ilustran los ataques con misiles de ayer contra varias ciudades ucranianas, que causaron al menos 30 muertos y más de 160 heridos”, dijo.

World Council of Churches (WCC) general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay denounced the continuing Russian campaign to terrorize the people of Ukraine, “exemplified by yesterday’s missile attacks on several Ukrainian cities which resulted in at least 30 deaths and more than 160 wounded,” he said.
