Escrita originalmente en 2020, la quinta reflexión de las siete semanas por el agua 2023 de la Red Ecuménica del Agua del CMI es del Rev. Dr. Donald Bruce Yeates, ministro de la Iglesia Presbiteriana de Saint Andrews de Suva, Fiji y capellán consultor de la Universidad de el Pacífico Sur. Bruce ha estado activo en el Pacífico desde 1975 como académico en trabajo social, desarrollo comunitario y política social, habiendo trabajado en la Universidad de Papua Nueva Guinea y la Universidad del Pacífico Sur. En la siguiente reflexión subraya la importancia del derecho humano al agua y el embate de la privatización en el contexto del agua embotellada más famosa del mundo que proviene de su país de origen, las “aguas de Fiji”.

Originally published in 2020, the fifth reflection of the seven weeks for water 2023 of the WCC’s Ecumenical Water Network is by Rev. Dr. Donald Bruce Yeates, a minister of Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church of Suva, Fiji and a consultant chaplain at The University of the South Pacific. Bruce has been active in the Pacific since 1975 as an academic in social work, community development and social policy having served at the University of Papua New Guinea and The University of the South Pacific. In the following  reflection he underlines the importance of human right to water and the onslaught of privatisation in the backdrop of  world’s most famous bottled water which comes from his home country, the “Fiji waters”.

También es asesor nacional del Foro de Cambio Climático y Justicia Social en Brasil. En la siguiente reflexión, analiza el ciclo del agua de Brasil, los “ríos voladores” del Amazonas pero también se lamenta del rápido agotamiento de los bosques que están rompiendo el ciclo del agua y haciendo desaparecer tanto las nubes como los acuíferos. Insiste en que el agua es uno de los bienes comunes que requiere un cuidado especial, pues no hay vida sin agua.

Originally published in 2018, the fourth Reflection of the “Seven Weeks for Water” 2023 series of World Council of Churches’ Ecumenical Water Network is by Ivo Poletto, a philosopher, theologian and social scientist from Brazil. He is also national advisor to the Climate Change and Social Justice Forum in Brazil. In the following reflection, he analyses the water cycle of Brazil, the “flying rivers” of the Amazon but also laments on fast depleting forests which are breaking the water cycle and making clouds as well as aquifers disappear.  He insists that water is one of the common goods that require special care, as there is no life without water.

Escrita originalmente en 2019, la segunda reflexión de las "Siete Semanas por el Agua 2023" de la Red Ecuménica del Agua del Consejo Mundial de Iglesias es de Grace Ji-Sun Kim, ministra ordenada de PC (EE. UU.). Recibió su doctorado de la Universidad de Toronto y trabaja como profesora de teología en la Escuela de Religión de Earlham. Es una escritora prolífica y autora o editora de 21 libros, incluido Hacer las paces con la Tierra. Kim es parte del grupo de trabajo del Consejo Mundial de Iglesias sobre el cambio climático. En esta reflexión, recuerda sus primeros días en Corea y cómo miraba el agua entonces y ahora, como teóloga ecofeminista. Ella reflexiona además sobre la promesa de Dios "Derramaré agua sobre la tierra sedienta, y arroyos sobre la tierra seca..." y la contrasta con el estilo de vida consumista de hoy, que está contaminando nuestros cuerpos de agua y negando a millones de disfrutar de este regalo que da vida. de Dios – ¡Agua!

Originally written in 2019, the second reflection of the “Seven Weeks for Water 2023” of World Council of Churches’ Ecumenical Water Network is by Grace Ji-Sun Kim, an ordained minister of PC (USA). She received her PhD from the University of Toronto and works as a Professor of Theology at Earlham School of Religion. She is a prolific writer and the author or editor of 21 books including, Making Peace with the Earth. Kim is part of the World Council of Churches working group on climate change. In this reflection, she recollects her early days in Korea and how she looked at the water then and now, as an eco-feminist theologian. She further reflects on the promise of God "I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground…" and contrasts it with today's consumeristic lifestyle, which is polluting our water bodies and denying millions from enjoying this life-giving gift of God – Water!

La autora de la primera reflexión de las Siete Semanas para el Agua 2023 de la Red Ecuménica del Agua del CMI es Michele Roberts.* En la siguiente reflexión, basada en varios casos de contaminación del agua a gran escala en muchas ciudades de EE.UU., establece la correlación entre la falta de acceso al agua potable en EE.UU. y el racismo sistémico.

Originally published in 2021, the 1st reflection of the Seven Weeks for Water 2023 series of the WCC Ecumenical Water Network is written by Michele Roberts*, from the Environmental Justice Health Alliance. In this reflection, the author, based on several instances of large scale water contamination in many cities in the USA, comes to a conclusion that lack of access to clean water in USA is a result of systemic racism.

La séptima y última reflexión de las Siete Semanas por el Agua 2022 de la Red Ecuménica del Agua del CMI fue escrita por la Prof. Dra. Isabel Apawo Phiri*. En la siguiente reflexión, ella, como coordinadora del personal de la Peregrinación de Justicia y Paz del CMI, hace un análisis exhaustivo de cómo la peregrinación del CMI y la peregrinación por la justicia del agua se interrelacionan, complementan y fortalecen mutuamente, en particular en Europa.

The seventh and final reflection of the Seven Weeks for Water 2022 of the WCC’s Ecumenical Water Network is written by Prof. Dr Isabel Apawo Phiri*. In the following reflection she, being the staff focal point of WCC’s Pilgrimage of Justice and Peace, makes a compelling analysis of how the WCC pilgrimage and the pilgrimage of water justice inter-relate, complement, and strengthen each other, with a particular reference to Europe.

La sexta reflexión de las Siete Semanas por el Agua 2022 de la Red Ecuménica del Agua del CMI fue escrita por Dinesh Suna*. En la siguiente reflexión, brinda un contexto histórico del ministerio de justicia del agua del CMI y reafirma que el agua es un regalo de Dios, un bien común y un derecho humano. Inspirándose en Isaías, llama a las iglesias a convertirse en comunidades azules y a decir «no» a la privatización del agua y al agua embotellada.

The sixth reflection of the Seven Weeks for Water 2022 of the WCC’s Ecumenical Water Network is written by Dinesh Suna.* In the following reflection ,  he gives a historical background of the WCC's water justice ministry and reaffirms that water is a gift of God, a common good and human right. Taking the inspiration from Isaiah, he calls the churches to become blue communities and say no to privatisation of water and to bottled water.

La quinta reflexión de las Siete Semanas por el Agua 2022 de la Red Ecuménica del Agua del CMI fue escrita por Peter Pavlovic.* Reflexiona sobre que Europa es un continente rico en agua, pero que persisten muchas preocupaciones relacionadas con la disponibilidad de agua en la región. El cambio climático agrava este problema y, tal y como advierte el último informe del Panel Intergubernamental de Expertos sobre Cambio Climático (IPCC), nuestra vulnerabilidad está cada vez más expuesta. La fe describe el mundo como un don de Dios dado a la humanidad. La fragilidad de nuestra existencia está estrechamente ligada a la falta de respeto a los límites del mundo en el que vivimos y está arraigada en el fracaso de nuestra relación con Dios.

The fifth reflection of the Seven Weeks for Water 2022 of the WCC’s Ecumenical Water Network is written by Peter Pavlovic.* He reflects that  Europe is a water rich continent, still, a lot of concerns related to water availability persist in the region.  Climate change makes this problem worse, our vulnerability is, as the last IPCC report warns, increasingly exposed.  Faith describes the world as a gift of God given to humanity. Fragility of our existence is closely related to disrespecting the limits of the world in which we live and is rooted in the failure of our relationship with God.

La cuarta reflexión de las Siete Semanas por el Agua de 2022 de la Red Ecuménica del Agua del CMI fue escrita por  Susanne Öhlmann.^* Öhlmann dice que el agua y la paz se asemejan. No las extrañamos sino hasta que están ausentes. Por un lado, Europa, un continente rico en agua, ha comenzado a sentir recientemente la incomodidad de la escasez de agua y, por el otro, la paz y la seguridad de la región han empezado a perder estabilidad a raíz de la guerra en Ucrania. Tomando inspiración del profeta Amós, Öhlmann ora por que prevalezca la paz y la justicia.

The fourth reflection of the Seven Weeks for Water 2022 of the WCC’s Ecumenical Water Network is written by Susanne Öhlmann.* She says water and peace are similar to each other. We do not miss them until they are absent. On one hand, Europe, a water rich continent, has started to feel the pinch of water shortages in recent times, and on the other, peace and security of the region has started to destabilize in the wake of war in Ukraine. Drawing inspiration from the prophet Amos, she prays for peace and justice to prevail.

La tercera reflexión de las Siete Semanas por el Agua 2022, de la Red Ecuménica del Agua del CCM, está escrita por Louk Andrianos.* Reflexiona sobre las palabras de Dios halladas en Santiago y Juan, advirtiendo a los cristianos sobre los «pecados ecológicos» menos reconocidos contra el agua: «la contaminación». Cuando nuestra sed no se ve saciada por el agua de Jesucristo y seguimos el estilo de vida de consumo mundano, a veces actuamos como manantiales de agua contaminada que destruyen la creación en lugar de darle vida. No debemos ser la fuente de bendición y maldición (Santiago 3: 10-11). 

The third reflection of the Seven Weeks for Water 2022 of the WCC’s Ecumenical Water Network is written by Louk Andrianos.* He reflects on the  words of God found in James and John, by warning Christians about less recognized  “ecological sins" toward water: “pollution.” When our thirst is not quenched by Jesus Christ’s water and we follow the worldly consumption lifestyle, we act sometimes as springs of polluted water that are destroying creation instead of giving life to it. We cannot be the source of blessing and cursing (James 3: 10-11). 

La segunda reflexión de la iniciativa, Siete semanas para el Agua 2022, de la Red Ecuménica del Agua del CMI está escrita por Nicole Ashwood (Nicqi). * En la siguiente reflexión, que escribió con motivo del Día Internacional de la Mujer, medita sobre la historia del Éxodo: de cómo se privó a las mujeres de agua y de cómo Moisés se levantó en su defensa y las abasteció, a ellas y a su rebaño, de agua. A continuación, subraya de qué manera los países desarrollados, Suiza incluida, regulan el acceso al agua salubre y cómo esta forma de actuar se repercute, en todo el mundo, en la salud, el bienestar y la dignidad de los pueblos, especialmente de las mujeres.

The second reflection of the Seven Weeks for Water 2022 of the WCC’s Ecumenical Water Network is written by Nicole Ashwood (Nicqi).* In the following reflection , which was  written around the International Women’s Day, she reflects how the women in the story of Exodus were deprived of water and how Moses came up to their defense  and provided them and their flock with water. Then she  highlights how developed countries in Europe, including Switzerland fares in getting access to clean water and how it affects the health, wellbeing and dignity of the people, particularly, women, everywhere.
