The World Social Forum (WSF) 2024 is scheduled to take place from February 15-19 in Nepal. The WSF serves as an open space and platform for the convergence of a diverse range of participants, including social movements, laborers, farmers, civil society groups, marginalized communities, and those affected by the impacts of neoliberal capitalism and privatization. 

28 May is Menstrual Hygiene Day. On 30 May 2023, the WCC Ecumenical Water Network and the Just Community of Women and Men along with their partner Norwegian Church Aid invite you to a webinar to mark this important day. 

The fifth edition of the World Council of Churches (WCC) Eco-School on Water, Food, and Climate Justice, will be held 11-18 November in Crete, Greece. 

The World Council of Churches Ecumenical Water Network and its partner organizations will host a hybrid side event, “Faith Community is a ‘Blue Community”,’  on 22 March in conjunction with the UN Water Conference in New York City.

A conference focusing on water for human rights and sustainable development will be held at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland and online on 3-4 November.

28 May (Saturday)  is Menstrual Hygiene Day. On 30 May, 2022 (Monday), the WCC Ecumenical Water Network (EWN) and the Just Community of Women and Men (JCWM) along with their partner Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) invite you to a webinar to mark this important day. 

This webinar will take a critical look at the WWF and promote AWWF/FAME or any other UN led global platform to address global water crisis in line with the UNFCCC mechanisms, which will uphold human right to water for all.

The WCC Pilgrim Team Visits (PTV) will focus on indigenous communities on Standing Rock, particularly along the shore of the Missouri River (Lake Oahe) and their struggle for justice, including water justice. The PTV is hosted by the The Standing Rock Episcopal Community & North Dakota Council on Indian Ministries. Rev. Dr John Floberg is the focal point for the host.

On March 22 all over the world people observe World Water Day. This year’s theme is Valuing Water. To explore this issue deeper the WCC Ecumenical Water Network is organizing a webinar with the office of the United Nations Special Rapporteur for Human Right to Water and Sanitation, Prof. Pedro Arrojo-Agudo.

The World Council of Churches (WCC) Ecumenical Water Network invites you to use the season of Lent to reflect on God’s gift of water. Since 2008, the WCC– through its “Seven Weeks for Water” campaign – has been providing weekly theological reflections and other resources on water for the seven weeks of Lent and for World Water Day on 22 March (which always falls during the Lenten period).

In the age of the Anthropocene, humans as the dominant species are driving significant and even irreversible environmental changes, thereby shaping the future of all living beings and our only planetary home. The complicated relationship between humans and ecosystems has often been mediated by economics and technology. Prevailing theologies and spiritualities have also molded these interactions.

The fourth edition of the  World Council of Churches (WCC) Eco-School on Water, Food and Climate Justice will be held 22-28 February 2021 in the Pacific region in five countries (Fiji, Tonga, Vanuatu, Tuvalu &  Solomon Islands), hosted by the Pacific Conference of Churches.

The WASH (Water, Sanitation, Hygiene) sector is increasingly recognizing the value of engaging with faith actors. Correspondingly, numerous faith actors have expressed support for WASH programs and the SDGs. This fourth annual Water and Faith event at the World Water Week builds upon these trends and the last three years of dialogue at this event.

The workshop will gather church leaders, church-rooted activists and experts on tax justice and reparations to with the aim of building a global ecumenical campaign for tax justice and reparations.

The Ecumenical Water Network (EWN), in collaboration with the WCC Ecumenical Advocacy Alliance (EAA) and WCC’s Economic and Ecological Justice programme, is organising the second edition of the Eco-School for up to 25 young people from Latin America and the Caribbean to discuss the nexus between water, food and climate justice.

The “Water and Faith” day, held on 30 August in Stockholm, Sweden, offers many opportunities to explore how faith-based groups can act in partnership with the public and private sectors to achieve water justice for all people. The day is observed during World Water Week, which this year runs from 26-31 August under the theme “Water, ecosystems and human development,” with over 3,000 registered participants from 135 countries.

This official side event of the United Nations High Level Political Forum aims to foster stronger partnerships and dialogue between faith-based organizations and the broader water sector to achieve SDG 6 (water and sanitation) together in the context of Synthesis Report on SDG 6.

According to the Christian tradition, Lent is a time to prepare for the celebration of the death and resurrection of Christ. During this period many people engage in fasting and practice moderation or self-denial in order to focus on repentance and consecrating themselves to God. While water has a strong spiritual significance in the Christian tradition as a gift from God, this scarce resource is threatened and denied to millions around the world.
