The Dicastery for Promoting Interreligious Dialogue is hosting a conference in Rome on the importance of women building a culture of interreligious encounter.

Fr Joshtrom Isaac Kureethadam helps coordinate the Sector on Ecology and Creation in the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development at the Vatican in Rome. He is among those planning activities during a special year, running from 24 May 2020 to 24 May 2021, to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the Laudato Si’ encyclical.

What else could your family, your parish, your community do to respond to the needs of migrants and refugees arriving in your country? Representatives of many different churches met in Rome in September to discuss that practical question, as well as respond to the broader challenge of how people of faith can combat the rising tide of racism, xenophobia and nationalist policies that increasingly target vulnerable migrants and asylum seekers.

Pope Francis met on 20 September with leaders of different Christian churches who have been taking part in a Rome meeting on combating racism and xenophobia, saying he hoped their encounter would give rise to many other such shared initiatives.

At a time of increased divisions within churches and within rapidly changing societies, Christians are called, more urgently than ever before, to model the values of reconciliation, justice and peace. That’s why a group of theologians and church leaders from different denominations have been meeting near the German city of Augsburg to work together on two documents calling for much closer collaboration in the tasks of peace-building and the care of migrants and refugees.

Ten weeks after Pope Francis visited the WCC in Geneva as “a pilgrim in quest of unity and peace,” church leaders of different churches representing the WCC and the Roman Catholic Church are meeting in Germany this week to continue their task of “walking, praying and working together.”

Mai traf sich die Leitung der Gemeinsamen Arbeitsgruppe der römisch-katholischen Kirche und des Ökumenischen Rates der Kirchen in Targoviste, Rumänien, um die Zusammenarbeit bei der Friedensförderung sowie die ökumenischen Herausforderungen und Gelegenheiten zu erörtern, die Migrantinnen, Migranten und Flüchtlinge darstellen.
Metropolit Nifon von Targoviste war Gastgeber der Gruppe in seiner Erzdiözese. Gemeinsam mit dem Erzbischof von Dublin und Primas von Irland, Diarmuid Martin, sitzt er der Gemeinsamen Arbeitsgruppe vor.

The leaders of the Joint Working Group (JWG) between the Roman Catholic Church and the World Council of Churches met 24-27 May in Targoviste, Romania, to discuss cooperation in peace building and the ecumenical challenge and opportunity posed by migrants and refugees.

Los líderes del Grupo Mixto de Trabajo (GMT) entre la Iglesia Católica y el Consejo Mundial de Iglesias se reunieron del 24 al 27 de mayo en Targoviste (Rumanía) para discutir el tema cooperación en materia de consolidación de la paz y el desafío y la oportunidad ecuménicos que representan los migrantes y los refugiados.

Les responsables du Groupe mixte de travail de l’Église catholique romaine et du Conseil œcuménique des Églises (GMT) se sont réunis du 24 au 27 mai à Târgoviște, en Roumanie, pour discuter de la coopération relative à l’engagement en faveur de la paix ainsi que du défi et des possibilités que représentent les personnes migrantes et réfugiées.

Dies waren einige der anstehenden Fragen auf der Tagung der Exekutivgruppe der Gemeinsamen Arbeitsgruppe (JWG) des Ökumenischen Rates der Kirchen (ÖRK) und der römisch-katholischen Kirche in Dublin, Irland vom 24. bis zum 26. April.

“What is the role of churches in peace-building? How are they actually involved? Which are the ecumenical challenges, and especially which are the ecumenical opportunities that arise from joint efforts at peace building?” These were some of the questions on the table as the Executive of the Joint Working Group of the WCC and the Roman Catholic Church met in Dublin, Ireland on 24-26 April.
