Webinar zu „True Freedom“: Aufruf zum Handeln gegen moderne Formen der Sklaverei

Am 18. Januar werden der Ökumenische Rat der Kirchen (ÖRK) und „The Clewer Initiative“ – eine nationale Initiative der Kirche von England – gemeinsam ein Webinar zum Kampf gegen moderne Formen der Sklaverei veranstalten. Bei der Veranstaltung wird die Publikation „True Freedom“ vorgestellt werden, eine jüngst veröffentlichte Materialsammlung für die Fastenzeit, die Kirchen, Organisationen und Einzelpersonen im Kampf gegen moderne Formen der Sklaverei unterstützen soll.

WCC urges World Economic Forum to consider longer-term good of all people

As the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting commenced in Davos beginning 15 January, World Council of Churches general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay urged the gathering to renew its commitment to multilateral cooperation for the longer-term good of all people. 

The forum is convening under the theme Rebuilding Trust.”

Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay marked 11 January as a significant moment for justice and the rule of law,” as public hearings commenced in the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on allegations against the State of Israel of violations of the 1948 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.

Faith Actors Reflect on Their Role in Reaching HIV Goals at ICASA

From 4 to 9 December 2023, thousands of people convened in Harare, Zimbabwe, for the 22nd International Conference on Aids and STIs in Africa (ICASA). Scientists, medical experts, advocates, people living with HIV, and civil society organizations came together under the theme “AIDS IS NOT OVER: Address inequalities; accelerate inclusion and innovation.” Participants from many faith traditions were a meaningful part of many of these representative groups but also took up a space of their own.
