This seminar will make the link between ecology, theology and justice visible, and draw attention to the potential for churches to develop viable, applied ethical responses and alternatives to the menace to nature from within their traditions. At the same time the seminar will provide insights into eco-theological discourses which emphasize the necessity of processes of mutual critique between ecology and theology in order to promote the common aim of a sustainable world for tomorrow.

The 4-day seminar, Seeking Renewal of Spirit and Fullness of Life for All Creation as Witnessing Communities, contributes to the quest for ‘ecumenical discernment to seek vision, concepts and directions for a renewed understanding and practice of mission and evangelism in changing a landscape’ as is stated in the World Council of Churches statement on Mission and Evangelism Together Towards Life: Mission and Evangelism in Changing Landscapes presented in November 2013 during the 10th WCC Assembly.

This training workshop will provide a space for dialogue on how men and women can contribute towards building peaceful communities. It will add to the efforts of women contributing towards an “ecumenical pilgrimage of justice and peace” consistent with a call from the WCC 10th Assembly in 2013.

From September 1st to 4 October, Christians around the world are praying and caring for creation. It’s the “Season of Creation”. The beginning and the end date of Season of Creation are linked with the concern for creation in the Eastern and the Western traditions of Christianity, respectively.

Vom 1. September – dem ersten Tag des orthodoxen Kirchenjahres – bis zum 4. Oktober – dem Gedenktag des Franz von Assisi, des Schutzheiligen von Tieren und Natur in der katholischen Tradition – sind die Kirchen weltweit aufgerufen, eine Zeit der Schöpfung abzuhalten.

Die Kirche ist heute in den eigenen Reihen und in der Gesellschaft mit Migrationsfragen konfrontiert. Sie weiß sich durch die biblische Botschaft verpflichtet, Menschen in ihrer Suche nach und in ihren Ängsten vor dem Verlust von Heimat zu begleiten. Die Kirche ist im Migrationsbereich vor allem diakonisch und gesellschaftspolitisch engagiert. Dieses Engagement und Migrationsthemen allgemein sind aber bisher zu wenig theologisch reflektiert worden. An der Tagung haben wir Gelegenheit dazu.

The church today is confronted with migration issues as they affect its own members and the society in which it acts. The biblical message calls it to accompany people in their quest of and in their fears of the loss of belonging. The church addresses migration primarily in diaconal and social-political perspectives. However, this commitment, and migration issues as a whole, have until now been only scarcely reflected upon from a theological viewpoint. This conference offers the opportunity for such a reflection.
