Applications are open for the Ecumenical Institute at Bossey’s 2024 interfaith summer course, during which students earn a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Interreligious Studies.

Beyond the inflicted traumata and loss of lives it gave many schools a thrust towards online education which otherwise would not have been able to continue. The time had come to reflect together on the pedagogical challenges of the changed situation for theological education.

On 20 January, World Council of Churches (WCC) acting general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Ioan Sauca will serve as a panelist for “Ecumenism in a Time of Pandemic: From Crisis to Opportunity.”

The Ecumenical Institute at Bossey is inviting applications for a renewed version of the 10-week online course entitled “Together Towards Unity. Being Church in a Fragmented World” in 2022. Application deadline is 15 February.

The WCC Ecumenical Institute at Bossey sets out to broaden its repertoire of courses in Ecumenical Studies to include a course now offered fully online.

In five episodes held on the third Thursday of each month beginning in November, the webinars will explore the following themes: “Answering the Ancestral Call of Legacy and Leadership,” “The Healing in Our Lament,” “Hope: Unity Within Diversity,” “The Celebration in Transformation,” and “Resurrection: The Diakonia at Work in the World Today.”

From 2-4 June 2021, the World Council of Churches Ecumenical Institute at Bossey hosts an international conference on ‘Teaching Ecumenism in the Context of World Christianity’.

For the Ecumenical Study program at the Ecumenical Institute, which starts every year in September, the deadline for application for the academic year 2020/21 is 30 November 2019.

In the context of the 70th anniversary of the World Council of Churches, the Pilgrimage of Justice and Peace and the 2030 sustainable development agenda, an international consultation will commemorate the 20th anniversary of the WCC’s Decade of the Churches in Solidarity with Women (1988-1998). The consultation will reflect on the achievements and challenges in building a just community of women and men and to strengthen ecumenical collaboration in reading the signs of our times in order to map the future direction of our work.

During a 23 August service in the Netherlands in the Nieuwe Kerk, a 15th-century church in Amsterdam, World Council of Churches leaders will celebrate the WCC’s 70th anniversary at the very spot in which the organization was founded.  A “Walk of Peace” through Amsterdam, and a symposium under the theme “Hospitality on a pilgrim's way to peace and justice”, at the Vrije Universiteit, will also be held on the same day.

Une «Marche pour la paix» à travers la capitale néerlandaise et un symposium sur le thème «L'hospitalité sur le chemin de la paix et de la justice» à l'Université Vrije d'Amsterdam auront également lieu le même jour.

The goal of this seminar is to share experiences how young people are working for just and sustainable communities and bring their voices to the table of the discussion on ecumenical diakonia and sustainable development.
