Une délégation œcuménique coordonnée par le Conseil œcuménique des Églises (COE) s’est rendue en Indonésie du 15 au 22 février, visitant notamment les provinces de la Papouasie et de la Papouasie occidentale, où, selon une déclaration commune récente de cinq mandataires des Nations Unies travaillant dans le domaine des droits de la personne, les violences et les discriminations à l’encontre des populations papoues autochtones se multiplient.

An ecumenical pioneer’s book re-launched in English

In 1984 a pastor from Uruguay became the first Latin American to be elected as general secretary of the WCC. The late Emilio Castro (1927 - 2013) left an unmatched legacy of passionate ecumenism behind him. His book “Pasion y compromise con el Reino de Dios”, first published in 2007, has now been translated into English and released in an edited version.

WCC calls for prayers, help for earthquake survivors in Indonesia

As the death toll from an earthquake and tsunami in Indonesia soared above 800 on Sunday, World Council of Churches general secretary Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit urged all people of good will across the world to reach out in support, care, help and prayer to thousands of earthquake survivors coping with the aftermath.

Cinema as a space for encounter and expression for children and youth in Argentina

One of the most active groups of "La Casona", a care center in the southern part of Buenos Aires, is the “Centro de Producción Audiovisual”, which is formed by eight young people of ages 16-22 who found in the cinema and audiovisual production a tool to express their feelings about the challenging reality around them. Last August, they received a visit by a group led by Frederique Seidel, World Council of Churches (WCC) special adviser on Child Rights.

L’un des groupes les plus actifs de «La Casona», un centre d’accompagnement au sud de Buenos Aires, est le «Centro de Producción Audiovisual» qui regroupe huit jeunes de 16 à 22 ans ayant trouvé dans le cinéma et la production audiovisuelle un outil d’expression de leurs sentiments concernant les difficultés de la réalité qui les entoure. En août dernier, ils ont reçu la visite d’un groupe mené par Frederique Seidel, conseillère spéciale pour les droits de l’enfant du Conseil œcuménique des Églises (COE).
