On Palm Sunday, accompaniers from the World Council of Churches (WCC) Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel walked in the traditional procession, carrying messages of solidarity with Gaza Christians during an especially painful time.

The World Council of Churches (WCC) has published online new materials related to the 2024 WCC-EAPPI Easter Initiative: “Out of the darkness – Easter solidarity with the Holy Land.”

Six ecumenical accompaniers have returned to Palestine and Israel, resuming in-person operations for the World Council of Churches (WCC) Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel. Ecumenical accompaniers, who were evacuated beginning of October 2023, had been continuing their support and accompaniment online. 

World Council of Churches (WCC) general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay marked 11 January as a “significant moment for justice and the rule of law,” as public hearings commenced in the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on allegations against the State of Israel of violations of the 1948 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.

The World Council of Churches (WCC) supports a UN resolution, passed on 12 December 2023, demanding an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

في أعقاب اندلاع الأعمال العدائية في 7 تشرين الأول/أكتوبر - مع ورود أنباء عن إطلاق آلاف الصواريخ من غزة على إسرائيل واختراق مسلحي حماس لجنوب إسرائيل، وما تلاها من رد عسكري إسرائيلي - يقوم مجلس الكنائس العالمي بتكييف عمله في الأراضي المقدسة لمواصلة دعم الجهود الرامية إلى تحقيق السلام العادل.

À la suite des affrontements qui ont éclaté le 7 octobre, avec des milliers de roquettes qui auraient été lancées de Gaza sur Israël, une incursion d’hommes armés du Hamas au sud d’Israël et la réaction militaire israélienne qui s’ensuivit, le Conseil œcuménique des Églises (COE) adapte ses activités en Terre sainte pour pérenniser son soutien aux efforts en faveur d’une paix juste.

Nach dem Ausbruch der Feindseligkeiten am 7. Oktober passt der Ökumenische Rat der Kirchen (ÖRK) seine Arbeit im Heiligen Land an, um die Bemühungen um gerechten Frieden weiterführen zu können. Berichten zufolge wurden Tausende Raketen aus dem Gazastreifen auf Israel abgefeuert und bewaffnete Hamas-Kämpfer drangen in den Süden Israels ein, worauf Israel mit dem Einsatz des Militärs reagierte. 

Tras el estallido de las hostilidades el 7 de octubre —con el lanzamiento de miles de misiles desde Gaza a Israel y la infiltración de hombres armados de Hamás en el sur de Israel, y la consiguiente respuesta militar israelí—, el Consejo Mundial de Iglesias (CMI) está adaptando su labor en Tierra Santa para seguir apoyando los esfuerzos en favor de una paz justa. 

Following the outbreak of hostilities on 7 October – with a reported launch of thousands of rockets from Gaza into Israel and the infiltration of southern Israel by Hamas gunmen, and an ensuing Israeli military response – the World Council of Churches (WCC) is adapting its work in the Holy Land to continue to support efforts for just peace.

מועצת הכנסיות העולמית (WCC) עוקבת בדריכות אחרי ההתפתחויות בישראל ופלסטין לאחר התפרצות פעולות האיבה בתאריך ה-7 באוקטובר, לאחר הדיווח על שיגורן של אלפי רקטות מרצועת עזה אל תוך ישראל והכניסה לדרום ישראל של מחבלי חמאס חמושים. ראש ממשלת ישראל הכריז שהמדינה נמצאת במצב של מלחמה.

يتابع مجلس الكنائس العالمي عن كثب التطورات في إسرائيل وفلسطين منذ اندلاع أعمال العنف في السابع من تشرين الأول/اكتوبر عقب الابلاغ عن إطلاق آلاف الصواريخ من قطاع غزة على إسرائيل واختراق مسلحي حماس جنوب إسرائيل. أعلن بعدها رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي أن البلاد في حالة حرب.
