Le film «Silence radio», de Juliana Fanjul, a reçu le prix des Droits de l’Homme 2020, décerné par l’Association mondiale pour la communication chrétienne (WACC) et l’Association catholique mondiale pour la communication (SIGNIS).

Le long métrage documentaire dresse le portrait de Carmen Arestigui, journaliste et animatrice radio critique envers le gouvernement.  

El documental “Silencio radio”, dirigido por Juliana Fanjul, ha recibido el Premio de Derechos Humanos 2020 concedido por la Asociación Mundial para la Comunicación Cristiana (WACC) y SIGNIS, la Asociación Mundial Católica para la Comunicación.

El largometraje documental retrata la vida de la periodista y locutora de radio Carmen Aristegui, una voz crítica con el Gobierno mexicano. 

Der Film „Radio Silence“ (bedeutet „Funkstille“) von Juliana Fanjul wurde von der Weltvereinigung für Christliche Kommunikation und der katholischen Weltvereinigung für Kommunikation SIGNIS mit dem Menschenrechtspreis 2020 ausgezeichnet. 

Der lange Dokumentarfilm porträtiert die regierungskritische Journalistin und Radiomoderatorin Carmen Arestigui. 

The film “Radio Silence,” by Juliana Fanjul, has received the Human Rights Award 2020 from the World Association for Christian Communication and SIGNIS, the World Catholic Association for Communication.

The feature-length documentary portrays government-critical journalist and radio host Carmen Arestigui. 

 

Rev. Fr Dr Lawrence Iwuamadi is dean of the Ecumenical Institute, the graduate school which opened its academic year this week. Below, Iwuamadi reflects on the arrival of new students at the Ecumenical Institute during this remarkable time.

“It was with sorrow that we received the news about the passing of Rev. Norman Bent,” said Rev. Prof. Dr Ioan Sauca, acting general secretary of the World Council of Churches (WCC). “Through his tireless ministry for reconciliation, justice and peace, Rev. Bent leaves behind an inspiring legacy for the global ecumenical movement.”

Prof. Dr. Ioan Sauca, secretario general en funciones del Consejo Mundial de Iglesias (CMI). “A través de su incansable ministerio por la reconciliación, la justicia y la paz, el Rev. Bent deja un inspirador legado para el movimiento ecuménico mundial”.

Am 23. und 24. Oktober traf sich Pastor Dr. Olav Fykse Tveit, Generalsekretär des Ökumenischen Rates der Kirchen (ÖRK), mit der Führungsebene der Methodistischen Kirche von Mexiko. Diese Begegnung war Teil eines internen Urteilsbildungsprozesses, an dessen Ende die Wiederaufnahme der 1994 ausgesetzten ÖRK-Mitgliedschaft stehen könnte.

On 23-24 October, Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit, general secretary of the World Council of Churches (WCC), met the leadership of the Methodist Church of Mexico, as part of an internal process of discernment that might lead to resuming their membership in the WCC, suspended since 1994.

El 23 y 24 de octubre, el Rev. Dr. Olav Fykse Tveit, secretario general del Consejo Mundial de Iglesias (CMI), se reunió con los líderes de la Iglesia Metodista de México como parte de un proceso interno de discernimiento que pudiera resultar en la renovación de su membresía con el CMI, suspendida desde 1994.

Les 23 et 24 octobre derniers, le pasteur Olav Fykse Tveit, secrétaire général du Conseil œcuménique des Églises (COE), a rencontré les responsables de l’Église méthodiste du Mexique dans le cadre d’un processus interne de discernement qui pourrait conduire à la réintégration de l’Église parmi les membres du COE, 35 ans après sa suspension en 1994.

“Congratulations for being a student at Bossey!” Fr Prof. Dr Ioan Sauca, director of the Ecumenical Institute in Bossey and deputy general secretary, welcomed the students for the new academic year 2018-2019. Thirty-one students from diverse countries and traditions will start their classes at the ecumenical institute on Tuesday.

“We have sought to support dialogue as a means to resolve differences, and to reaffirm and strengthen calls for justice, peace and respect for diverse ways of thinking in contemporary societies”, reads a message issued by the members of an ecumenical delegation organized by the World Council of Churches (WCC) that visited Nicaragua on 28-29 August.

“Hemos buscado apoyar el diálogo como un medio de zanjar diferencias, reafirmar y potenciar los llamados en favor de la justicia, la paz y el respeto de las distintas formas de pensar en las sociedades contemporáneas”, afirma el mensaje emitido por los integrantes de la delegación ecuménica que organizó el Consejo Mundial de Iglesia (CMI) y que estuvo en Nicaragua los días 28 y 29 de agosto.

Exposure visits taken by participants of the Ecumenical School on Governance, Economics and Management (GEM) offered a firsthand knowledge about economic and political injustices and challenges being faced by the migrant and indigenous communities in Mexico.

A 10-day program on global economics with participation of church leaders and young activists from diverse backgrounds was opened 19 August in Mexico City.

The second edition of the World Council of Churches (WCC) Eco-School on Water, Food and Climate Justice will be held from 1-12 November 2018 in San Salvador, El Salvador. This year the Eco-School will focus on Latin America and the Caribbean. Applications are now open with a deadline of 31 August 2018.
