التقى الأمين العام لمجلس الكنائس العالمي، القس الدكتور "جيري بيلاي"، بالرئيس الفلسطيني محمود عباس في مدينة رام الله في الضفة الغربية، في 19 شباط/فبراير، وحثّ على إنهاء "حلقة العنف والمعاناة التي تبدو بلا نهاية".

El secretario general del Consejo Mundial de Iglesias (CMI), Rev. Prof. Dr. Jerry Pillay, se reunió con el presidente palestino Mahmud Abás en Ramala, Cisjordania, el 19 de febrero, e instó a poner fin al “aparentemente interminable ciclo de violencia y sufrimiento”.

En su reunión con el jeque Azzam Khatib, director del Waqf islámico de Jerusalén, el 18 de febrero, el secretario general del Consejo Mundial de Iglesias (CMI), Rev. Prof. Dr. Jerry Pillay, y la delegación que lo acompaña reiteraron el compromiso del CMI de mantener Jerusalén como ciudad de las tres religiones abrahámicas.

التقى الأمين العام لمجلس الكنائس العالمي، القس الدكتور "جيري بيلاي"، ببطاركة ورؤساء الكنائس في القدس في 17 شباط/فبراير، حيث قال صاحب الغبطة ثيوفيلوس الثالث، بطريرك القدس، في خطابه الترحيبي أن الأمين العام لمجلس الكنائس العالمي اسُتقبل بامتنان "في هذا الوقتالصعب والمعقد لجميع شعوب هذه المنطقة، وخاصة المجتمع المسيحي في الأراضي المقدسة".

En estos momentos de guerra, dificultad y dolor, el Consejo Mundial de Iglesias (CMI) acompaña a las iglesias y el pueblo de Palestina e Israel en su camino con la oración, la acción y la esperanza de un futuro mejor.

El secretario general del Consejo Mundial de Iglesias (CMI), Rev. Six students from the Ecumenical Institute at Bossey are beginning their research fellowship programme with the World Council of Churches (WCC), where they will work and study for six weeks as part of their spring semester.

World Council of Churches (WCC) general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay met with the Patriarchs and Heads of Churches in Jerusalem on 17 February, and was received with gratitude “at this difficult and complicated time for all the peoples of this region, and especially for the Christian community of the Holy Land,” said His Beatitude Theophilos III, Patriarch of Jerusalem, in a welcome address.

 Las iglesias miembros, los líderes religiosos y los grupos cristianos locales en Palestina e Israel, así como el presidente palestino Mahmoud Abbas y el presidente israelí Isaac Herzog, se reunirán con el secretario general del Consejo Mundial de Iglesias (CMI), Rev. Prof. Dr. Jerry Pillay, durante su visita a Tierra Santa que empieza el 16 de febrero.

Member churches, religious leaders and local Christian groups in Palestine and Israel—as well as Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli president Isaac Herzog—will meet with World Council of Churches (WCC) general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay as he visits the area beginning 16 February. 

Twenty-four students and seven teachers from the Focolare Movement joined the World Council of Churches (WCC) for Ash Wednesday prayer services, and for an introduction to the ecumenical movement.
