El Consejo Mundial de Iglesias (CMI) acogerá una consulta internacional sobre "Cristianos y Musulmanes en y más allá del diálogo". La consulta, de tres días, tendrá lugar del 16 al 18 de octubre de 2002 en el Centro Ecuménico de Ginebra, Suiza.
El Dr Tarek Mitri, del Sector de Relaciones y Diálogo Interreligiosos del CMI, dice que el CMI ha invitado a 40 participantes a reunirse para realizar "un examen crítico del estado actual de las relaciones entre sus respectivas comunidades y una evaluación de lo que se ha conseguido." Añade que los debates incluirán "una exploración de prioridades para el futuro", que según las previsiones se orientarán hacia la acción común a nivel local.
La reunión será copresidida por el moderador del CMI, S.S. Aram I, patriarca de la Sede de Cilicia de la Iglesia Apostólica Armenia (Antelias, Líbano) y el Dr Mohamed S. El-Awa, abogado y jurisperito de Egipto.
El día de la apertura tomarán la palabra, en torno al tema "Reflexiones sobre el estado actual de las relaciones entre musulmanes y cristianos", los siguientes participantes:
