From generation to generation

The mountaintop is a holy place. The valleys below are distant, and the weight of daily life feels momentarily lifted. In scripture, its where humanity and the divine meet: Moses conversed with God amidst fire and cloud on Sinai; Elijah heard the still small voice on Horeb; Jesus transfigured in the presence of his disciples, his face shining like the sun. 

WCC: “We yearn for peace in Ukraine, in Russia and throughout the region”

The World Council of Churches (WCC) Executive Committee, in a statement entitled Yearning for Just Peace in Europe,” recalled with heavy hearts that the war in Ukraine has now passed 1,000 days. Each of those days has been marked by the blood of so many civilians as well as combatants killed and maimed, the traumatic displacement of communities, and the destruction of homes, livelihoods, and civilian infrastructure,” the statement reads. We reaffirm our Christian calling and desire for peace, and for the justice without which peace is unsustainable.

Interfaith Dialogue on Climate urges action, compassion, and resilience ahead of COP29

Faith leaders and advocates worldwide came together on 6 November for a transformative Talanoa Dialogue, organized virtually by the Interfaith Liaison Committee to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, cochaired by the World Council of Churches (WCC). The dialogue provided a vital space for interfaith communities to explore shared goals in preparation for COP29, fostering unity around an urgent call for action on climate justice, compassion, and resilience.

WCC, KAICIID explore areas of cooperation

A delegation from the KAICIID Dialogue Centre – based in Lisbon – visited the World Council of Churches (WCC) on 22 October to explore areas of common interest and possible cooperation, with a particular focus on issues in the European region.
