Gender justice in media coverage: are we making progress?

Preliminary findings released by the Global Media Monitoring Project show significant progress toward some aspects of gender balance in the news but also show that, overall, the media is far short of being an inclusive space for women, vulnerable women, and historically marginalized groups.

Global Christian Forum International Committee begins to plan global gathering

The Global Christian Forum International Committee convened virtually on 22-23 February. While discussing the work and focus of the Global Christian Forum, participants, including the World Council of Churches, discussed regional meetings as a good place for some of the necessary healing and bridge-building to take place before a larger global gathering, possibly in 2024.

WCC honoured with Geneva Engage Award

Driven by God’s grace and a sense of duty

When Rev. Dr Antje Jackelén became its first female archbishop in 2014, a major milestone was reached in the history of the Church of Sweden. It took 850 years and 69 male predecessors to get there. Jackelén also happens to be the first immigrant, at least in modern times, to occupy the highest chair of her church. That, however, she regards as a coincidence of lesser significance. For her, as a devoted Christian, the baptism matters more than the passport.   

Rev. Dr Hans-Ruedi Weber dies at 97

During his long career, Weber, who passed away on 18 October, made the Bible come alive for thousands of people through Bible studies that he coordinated with groups from many different cultures, contexts and situations.
