Assembly communicators reunite to look back—and step forward—together

Nearly 50 of 140 communicators who worked together at the World Council of Churches (WCC) 11th Assembly in Karlsruhe, Germany, in 2022 held an online reunion on 10 April, taking a fun look back at their fondest memories—and a serious look forward on how artificial intelligence is affecting their work.

Prière pour la Journée mondiale de la santé Dimanche 7 avril 2024

Dans le cadre du cycle de prière œcuménique, nous prions pour les peuples et les Églises de Roumanie, de Hongrie et de Bulgarie.

La Journée mondiale de la santé a lieu le 7 avril, date à laquelle l’Organisation mondiale de la Santé célèbre son 76e anniversaire. Cette année, le thème est «Ma santé, mon droit», ce qui nous rappelle qu’il faut plaider en faveur d’un accès équitable aux services de santé et œuvrer pour un monde plus sain et plus inclusif.

«Nous ne serons pas les derniers chrétiens à vivre à Gaza.»

«Nous avons tout perdu, mais nous ne perdrons ni notre mission, ni notre appartenance à ce lieu cher à nos cœurs.»

«Le christianisme a commencé ici et restera ici.» 

Tels sont les mots prononcés par Nader Abu Amsha, directeur exécutif du Département du service aux réfugiés de Palestine du Conseil des Églises du Moyen-Orient (DSPR-CEMO), qui tâche simplement de les aider à survivre jusqu’au lendemain.

Words of steadfastness ring from the rubble

“We won’t leave Gaza as long as there is a standing church.” 

“We will not be the last Christians living in Gaza.” “

“We lost everything, but we can’t lose our mission and our belonging to this place dear to our hearts.”

“Christianity started here and will continue to be here.”  

These are the words people are uttering as Nader Abu Amsha, executive director of Department of Services to Palestinian Refugees of the Middle East Council of Churches (DSPR-MECC), tries to help them simply survive the next day.

Le 8 mars, à Genève, lors de la clôture de la réunion de trois commissions du Conseil œcuménique des Églises — la Commission des Églises pour les affaires internationales, la Commission pour la santé et la guérison et la Commission sur la justice climatique et le développement durable — un sentiment de détermination collaborative émanait des participant-e-s pour relever les défis du monde avec espérance et actions concrètes.

Seven Weeks for Water 2024, week 5: "Amid rain and storms, discerning the signs of the times"

The fifth reflection of the Seven Weeks for Water 2024 series of the WCC Ecumenical Water Network is written by  Rev. Jane Stranz. In this reflection, she dwells on the text where Jesus calms a storm, while his disciples were panicked.  She calls for a conversion from relying on a God with magical powers to having faith in a God who calls us to take an active part in the miracle of overcoming fear. Jesus calls us to share in interpreting the signs of the times and take responsible action together for the kingdom.  A clarion call indeed in our advocacy for water justice and climate justice.
