Speaking during a 30 August “Dialogue on COVID-19 and Consequences for Global Multilateral Cooperation,” World Council of Churches (WCC) acting general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Ioan Sauca offered a keynote speech focusing on urgent efforts to sustain a global, multinational dialogue and cooperation in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.

WCC honored with Bridge Builder Award 2021

The World Council of Churches (WCC) is receiving a Bridge Builder Award for building bridges of understanding between people, nations, and communities at national and international levels. The award is presented by the Jury of the 14th August Committee Norway together with The Oslo Center.

The imperative to go back to the ecumenical basics

Dr Agnes Abuom, moderator of the World Council of Churches (WCC) central committee, was asked about the WCC executive committee meeting held on 17-23 May 2021. The WCC executive committee set a tone of hope for the future while, at the same time, addressing multiple global crises with statements, pastoral messages, and calls for prayer.

WCC mourns passing away of His Grace Most Rev. Dr Philipose Mar Chrysostom Mar Thoma Valiya Metropolitan

His Eminence the Most Rev. Dr Philipose Mar Chrysostom Mar Thoma Valiya Metropolitan (Metropolitan Emeritus) of the Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church, passed away on the 5 May in Kerala, India. He was 104 years old. Churches and the global ecumenical community are celebrating a remarkable life, lived in full, in service of God and humanity with holiness, humility, humour and helpfulness. His funeral will be held on 6 May.
