Women Respond to the Kairos Palestine Document

Thirty women gathered in Bethlehem on 13-18 December 2010 to celebrate the first anniversary of the «Kairos Palestine» document on the quest for peace and human rights in Palestine and Israel. The gathering also reflected theologically on the content of the text. Participants came from the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Europe, North and Latin America and Australia.

Living Letters team to visit the Philippines

An international team of church representatives will pay a solidarity visit to churches, ecumenical organizations and civil society movements in the Philippines from 1 to 5 December. It will be the last in a series of "Living Letters" visits to various countries organized ahead of the International Ecumenical Peace Convocation in May 2011, in order to accompany people and churches who long for peace, security and reconciliation in the midst of conflicts and violence.

Churches want Europe to take lead on climate justice

A consultation on Poverty, Wealth and Ecology in Europe organized by the Conference of European Churches (CEC) and the World Council of Churches (WCC) in cooperation with churches in Hungary ended on Friday 12 November by adopting a "Budapest Call for Climate Justice".

In response to the call to raise the voice of young people on climate justice, the young delegates of a WCC-CEC consultation on Poverty, Wealth and Ecology, representing young Christians in Europe through the Ecumenical Youth Council in Europe, World Student Christian Federation Europe Region and SYNDESMOS, the World Fellowship of Orthodox Youth, presented the following contribution to be taken into account in the process of the global ecumenical AGAPE consultation.

Roman Catholics and WCC are welcomed by Christians of Syria

Since the mid-1960s, regular meetings of the Joint Working Group of the World Council of Churches (WCC) and the Roman Catholic Church have provided an opportunity for the coordination of Christian concerns and activities across boundaries of confession and tradition. This year’s meeting took place from 26 September to 2 October 2010 at the Saint Christophoros Patriarchal Monastery in Saidnaya, Syria.

Prayers for peace in Africa echo around the world

 “We pray for Africa, especially for Somalia, Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo where violence and suffering are a tragic reality,” was the prayer from Nairobi at an International Day of Prayer for Peace event sponsored by the All-Africa Conference of Churches.
