The WCC Central Committee encourages the study and adoption of the principles and practices of active non-violence, as the most legitimate and appropriate means of countering discrimination and oppression and of breaking the cycle of violence.

With this letter issued at its Central Committee meeting in Trondheim, the WCC reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating AIDS as a public health threat by 2030.

On 27-29 May 2015, 75 participants gathered in Geneva for an international conference on peace and security in the Democratic Republic of Congo, at the invitation of the World Council of Churches.
