The World Council of Churches (WCC) will celebrate its 75th anniversary in multiple ways, starting in June and ending in December 2023, with a focus on promoting understanding and cooperation among Christians worldwide.

An online meeting planned for 25 May, titled “Exploring the nexus between racism, xenophobia and the AfCTA, and AU free movement protocol,” will mark Africa Day.

Church leaders in Papua, in a position statement directed toward government officials, said “the current situation is a human tragedy,” expressed grave concern about extrajudicial killings and other violence, and called for immediate measures for a sustainable peace.

The World Council of Churches (WCC) will host a hybrid event on 2 May in conjunction with the 32nd session of the United Nations Working Group of Experts on People of African Descent.

Participating in a Ökumenetag (ecumenical day) in Karlsruhe, Germany, on 22 April, former World Council of Churches (WCC) acting general secretary Rev. Prof. Fr Ioan Sauca reflected back on the WCC 11th Assembly, and expressed deep gratitude to the host churches.

The World Council of Churches (WCC) offered insights and participated in dialogue at the Youth Pre-assembly for National Council of Churches in India (NCCI), held 17-19 April in Hyderabad.

Organized by the India Peace Centre, the Youth Pre-assembly was held under the theme “The Hour has Come: The hour of Youth Building a World of Peace and Sustainability.”

Dans sa contribution, fortement inspirée de la déclaration de la 11ᵉ Assemblée du COE «Comment trouver la paix», le COE s’est principalement concentré sur le besoin d’un meilleur soutien financier et pratique pour construire la paix aux échelles nationales et locales, plutôt que favoriser les divisions et la confrontation militaire.

The World Council of Churches (WCC) has offered input for the articulation of the UN’s “New Agenda for Peace," a process intended to update the world body’s approach to peace and security in the current global context. In its submission – which is inspired to a significant extent by the WCC 11th Assembly statement on “The Things That Make For Peace”– the WCC focused especially on the need for greater financial and practical support for peacebuilding at national and local levels, rather than for division and military confrontation.
