Under the theme “That the World May Know”, the Global Christian Forum (GCF) kicks off its Fourth Global Gathering, in Accra, Ghana, on Tuesday, 16 April. 

Churches and Christian communities worldwide are invited to use the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2025 resources to pray together for the unity among churches throughout the year.

A webinar on 8 February, “From Nicaea, Walking Together to Unity: the beginning of a new beginning,” will offer deep reflections on the Council of Nicaea and its enduring legacy for Christians today.

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity will be held 18-25 January, with materials from Burkina Faso facilitated by the Chemin Neuf Community.

A new publication, “Towards a Global Vision of the Church, Volume II,” will be released during a webinar on 14 December hosted by the World Council of Churches Commission on Faith and Order. 

The World Council of Churches (WCC) and International Committee of the Global Christian Forum, during a meeting held 2-5 November at the Ecumenical Institute at Bossey, finalized plans for the a global gathering in 2024 in Accra, Ghana; renewed a five-year contract with Global Christian Forum secretary Casely Esssmuah; and signed a renewed memorandum of understanding that affirms the two organisations’ distinct and complementary roles in the quest for Christian unity.

The Global Christian Forum International Committee is convening at the Ecumenical Institute at Bossey from 2-5 November. 

The World Council of Churches (WCC) participated in an ecumenical vigil of prayer preceding the synod of bishops for the Catholic Church.

A joint international editing group comprised of individuals appointed by the Dicastery for promoting Christian Unity and the Faith and Order Commission of the World Council of Churches met in the Bose Monastery, Italy, 11-15 September, to prepare materials for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, 2025.

In a message sharing joyful greetings at Pentecost, World Council of Churches presidents from different regions across the world prayed for spiritual blessings and the felt presence of God.

Churches in the southern hemisphere will observe the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity on 21-28 May, the week between Ascension and Pentecost. This year’s theme is “Do good; seek justice (Isaiah 1:17).”
