As we witness the ongoing violence and injustice in the Holy Land and seek to stand in solidarity with its peoples struggling to find peace, the 2024 WCC-EAPPI Easter initiative lifts up the call to roll away the heavy stone of violence, war, and occupation, pain, and suffering, and to remind the world of what is needed to bring about peace, and to transform swords into ploughshares.

מועצת הכנסיות העולמית (WCC) תקבל את פרס ״בונת הגשרים״ עבור פועלה בבניית גשרים של הבנה בין אנשים, עמים וקהילות, ברמה הארצית והבינלאומית. הפרס יוענק לה על ידי חבר השופטים של ועידת אוגוסט ה-14 של נורבגיה ועל ידי מרכז אוסלו.

WCC urges: “give highest priority to protect life”

In a pastoral letter to WCC member churches and ecumenical partners, WCC general secretary Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit and WCC moderator Dr Agnes Abuom urged people to give highest priority to “doing whatever we can do to protect life” and “This is a time to touch each other’s hearts, by what we say, what we share, what we do – and what we do not do – to protect the life God loves so much.”
