Le Conseil œcuménique des Églises (COE) a nommé plusieurs nouveaux membres de son personnel en 2024, dont trois nouveaux directeurs de commission. Le secrétaire général du COE, le pasteur Jerry Pillay, les a chaleureusement salué-e-s à l’entame de leurs ministères.

The World Council of Churches (WCC) has made new staff appointments during 2024, including three new commission directors. WCC general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay warmly greeted them as they began to serve in their particular ministries.

The World Day of Prayer, to be observed on 1 March, has been prepared this year by an ecumenical group of Palestinian women in response to the theme “I beg you…bear with one another in love.”

World Council of Churches (WCC) general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay met with the Patriarchs and Heads of Churches in Jerusalem on 17 February, and was received with gratitude “at this difficult and complicated time for all the peoples of this region, and especially for the Christian community of the Holy Land,” said His Beatitude Theophilos III, Patriarch of Jerusalem, in a welcome address. 

The Thursdays in Black campaign now has a Youth Edition, developed by young people who are building a network in support of a world free from rape and violence. 

The World Council of Churches (WCC) congratulated the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) on its 50th Jubilee. 

At a Peace Conference in Jakarta, Indonesia, hosted by the United Evangelical Mission (UEM) and the Communion of Churches in Indonesia (PGI), Peter Prove, director of the World Council of Churches Commission of the Churches on International Affairs, participated as a panel speaker during a session on ““Global Challenges and Perspective for Interfaith Action” on 21 November.
