As COP26 began on 31 October and runs through 12 November, faith-based leaders are raising their voices in unprecedented ways. A newly released 15-minute video co-produced by the World Council of Churches, ACT Alliance and Lutheran World Federation portrays a candid, passionate conversation about what churches and faith communities can and should be doing to ensure every voice is heard not only at COP26 but beyond.

Jeffrey Joe Swenson, husband of World Council of Churches (WCC) central committee vice moderator Bishop Mary Ann Swenson, passed away on 22 August. The WCC extends condolences to Bishop Mary Ann, and many fondly remember Jeff, who nearly always accompanied her in WCC gatherings and in all her travels across the world.

Young people have been challenged to envisage a future for the region and work together towards building a dynamic Pacific in preparation for the upcoming WCC 11th Assembly.

 



 

The World Council of Churches (WCC) is mourning the death of Most Rev. Fereimi Cama, bishop of Polynesia and primate of the Anglican Church in Aotearoa, New Zealand. Cama was also a trustee of the Pacific Conference of Churches.

The World Council of Churches (WCC) wrapped up its 65th central committee meeting in Geneva on 29 June, its first online session with many of proceedings carried out via video conference, and the moderator Dr Agnes Abuom declaring “we have agreed, basically, on the programme for 11th Assembly.”
