It was with much sadness that I received news of the death of dear Archbishop Anastasios of Albania. I count it as one of the great privileges of my life to have worked closely with him when we were both Presidents of the World Council of Churches from the Assembly at Porto Alegre in 2006 to the Assembly in Busan in 2013.

Upon the admission of Archbishop Anastasios of Albania to “Evangelismos” Hospital in Athens at the beginning of January 2025, expressions of widespread acceptance and appreciation emerged from people of all educational backgrounds and ages, from various societal circles (ecclesiastical, academic, political, journalistic), as well as from international inter-Christian and interfaith communities and beyond.

In our brief article, as an expression of love and deep appreciation for the esteemed Archbishop of Tirana, Anastasios, we present, as much as possible, his significant contribution to interfaith dialogue and his active involvement in actions and initiatives aimed at establishing peaceful and just coexistence among all people, regardless of their cultural backgrounds, religious beliefs, or cultural identity.

Du 18 au 25 janvier, les fidèles se sont inspirés du thème choisi pour 2025,  «Crois-tu cela?» (Jean 11,26), pour se réunir en prière et en réflexion.

Die Gebetswoche für die Einheit der Christen wurde in der ganzen Welt mit  Andachten, Gebeten und Versammlungen abgehalten, um Menschen auf tiefgründige Weise zu vereinen. Vom 18.–25. Januar wurden Menschen durch das Thema von 2025 „Glaubst Du das?“ (Johannes 11,26) bei gemeinsamen Gebeten und Reflexionen inspiriert.
