National Jewish-Christian Dialogue meets in New York, continues consideration of reparations

The National Jewish-Christian Dialogue, co-sponsored by the National Council of Churches (USA) and the National Council of Synagogues, met 19-20 April in New York City. The dialogue continued its in-depth discussion of reparations and national healing, following previous remote sessions on the broad topic of reparations and specific efforts to consider reparations by the cities of Evanston, Illinois, and Providence, Rhode Island.

Déclaration commune des secrétaires généraux Olav Fykse Tveit (COE) et Jim Winkler (NCCCUSA)

Aucun peuple ne devrait être privé de ses droits et, surtout, aucun peuple ne devrait être privé de ses droits sur plusieurs générations. Le conflit non résolu en Israël et Palestine porte avant tout sur la justice, or tant que l’impératif de justice n’aura pas été atteint, on ne saurait voir la paix s’instaurer. Alors qu’Israël occupe Jérusalem-Est, la Cisjordanie et Gaza depuis bientôt cinquante ans, ce sont plusieurs générations qui ont subi cette réalité. Les possibilités d’une solution viable à deux États – que nous défendons de longue date – sont de plus en plus hors de portée et semblent plus irréalistes que jamais.

North American conference convenes to “Reclaim Evangelism!”

Nearly 60 participants gathered to reflect on the theme “Reclaim Evangelism!” at the North American 2015 Conference on Evangelism, held 29 October - 2 November in Nashville, Tennessee (U.S.). The conference was organized by the WCC and the NCCUSA, in consultation with the Canadian Council of Churches, and it was hosted by the Discipleship Ministries of the United Methodist Church.
