National Jewish-Christian Dialogue meets in New York, continues consideration of reparations

The National Jewish-Christian Dialogue, co-sponsored by the National Council of Churches (USA) and the National Council of Synagogues, met 19-20 April in New York City. The dialogue continued its in-depth discussion of reparations and national healing, following previous remote sessions on the broad topic of reparations and specific efforts to consider reparations by the cities of Evanston, Illinois, and Providence, Rhode Island.

Keinem Volk sollte sein Recht vorenthalten werden, und sicherlich sollte keinem Volk sein Recht über Generationen hinweg vorenthalten werden. Der ungelöste Konflikt in Israel und Palästina ist primär eine Frage der Gerechtigkeit, und bis Gerechtigkeit herrscht, kann es dort keinen Frieden geben. Bald hält Israel Ost-Jerusalem, das Westjordanland und Gaza seit 50 Jahren besetzt; das bedeutet, dass mehrere Generationen unter dieser Situation gelitten haben und weiterhin darunter leiden. Die Möglichkeit einer tragfähigen Zweistaatenlösung, für die wir uns schon seit langem einsetzen, scheint schwerer zu erreichen und unrealistischer denn je zuvor.

North American conference convenes to “Reclaim Evangelism!”

Nearly 60 participants gathered to reflect on the theme “Reclaim Evangelism!” at the North American 2015 Conference on Evangelism, held 29 October - 2 November in Nashville, Tennessee (U.S.). The conference was organized by the WCC and the NCCUSA, in consultation with the Canadian Council of Churches, and it was hosted by the Discipleship Ministries of the United Methodist Church.
