The Dutch Reformed Church (DRC) in South Africa is currently striving to revive and enhance its missional identity with its core aspect being a church for Africa, said DRC general secretary Dr Gustav Claassen.
L’Église réformée hollandaise d’Afrique du Sud (en afrikaans Nederduitse Gereformeerde Kerk, ou NGK) s’évertue actuellement à revitaliser et à renforcer son identité missionnaire, en faisant principalement valoir son statut d’Église pour l’Afrique. Tel est le message transmis par le secrétaire général de la NGK, Gustav Claassen, à l’occasion d’une réunion de la Commission de Foi et constitution du Conseil œcuménique des Églises (COE) qui s’est déroulée du 15 au 22 juin non loin de Pretoria, en Afrique du Sud, à l’invitation de la NGK.
Blantyre Synod is the component part of the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) for the southern region of Malawi. The World Council of Churches (WCC) welcomed the Blantyre Synod to the ecumenical fellowship in July at the WCC Central Committee meeting. Rev. Alex Benson Maulana, general secretary of the Blantyre Synod, spoke to WCC news about why the synod has joined WCC.

During the 4th United Nations Forum on Business and Human Rights, the WCC, in collaboration with the ACT Alliance and Lutheran World Federation, organized a side-event on “Faith-based organizations’ contribution to the protection of communities’ land rights: lessons learnt and good practices from Africa, Asia and Latin America” at the Ecumenical Centre in Geneva.
