Voices from across the world brought stories—and solutions—via online events hosted by the World Council of Churches (WCC) in conjunction with the Commission on the Status of Women, the UN’s largest annual gathering on gender equality and women's empowerment.

März in Genf mit der gemeinsamen Entschlossenheit, die Herausforderungen der Welt hoffnungsvoll und praktisch anzugehen.

A workshop at the World Council of Churches (WCC) has highlighted the right to health and dignified access to it, as well as the faith sector's engagement with migrants and refugees for health and HIV services in fighting stigma and discrimination.

As three World Council of Churches commissions—the Commission of the Churches on International Affairs, Commission on Health and Healing, and Commission on Climate Justice and Sustainable Development—completed their meeting on 8 March in Geneva, they came away with a sense of collaborative determination to address the world’s challenges with hope and with practical actions. 

Bei einer Podiumsdiskussion auf der Sitzung dreier Kommissionen des Ökumenischen Rates der Kirchen (ÖRK) am 5. März setzten sich die Vortragenden mit dem Thema „Klimanotstand—Reaktion der Kirchen im Glauben und mit Hoffnung“ auseinander. Die Podiumsdiskussion wurde von Erzbischof Hochwürden Julio Murray Thompson moderiert, der auch der Kommission für Klimagerechtigkeit und nachhaltige Entwicklung vorsteht, von der das Podium einberufen wurde.

Au cours d’un panel ayant eu lieu à l’occasion de la réunion de trois commissions du Conseil œcuménique des Églises (COE) le 5 mars, les intervenant-e-s ont exploré le thème «Urgence climatique — la réponse des Églises grâce à la foi et à l’espérance». La table ronde a été modérée par l’archevêque Julio Murray Thompson, qui modère également la Commission des Églises pour la justice climatique et le développement durable, organisatrice de la table ronde.

During a panel discussion at the meeting of three World Council of Churches (WCC) commissions on 5 March, speakers explored the theme “Climate emergency—churches responding in faith and hope.” The panel was moderated by Archbishop Rev. Julio Murray Thompson, who also moderates the Commission on Climate Justice and Sustainable Development, which organized the panel.

The newly-appointed WCC Faith and Order Commission met face-to-face for the first time to plan its next eight years of work. Theologians from all continents gathered in Tondano, North Sulawesi, Indonesia, hosted by the Indonesian Communion of Churches. 

Applications are open for the Ecumenical Institute at Bossey’s 2024 interfaith summer course, during which students earn a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Interreligious Studies.

In a message to the Global Refugee Forum released 12 December, faith-based leaders underscored their commitment to offering sanctuary for refugees as well defending their human rights.
