During dialogue on COVID-19, WCC acting general secretary reflects on “our shared vulnerability—and shared fate—as one humanity”

Speaking during a 30 August “Dialogue on COVID-19 and Consequences for Global Multilateral Cooperation,” World Council of Churches (WCC) acting general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Ioan Sauca offered a keynote speech focusing on urgent efforts to sustain a global, multinational dialogue and cooperation in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In Argentina, “Serving a Wounded World” is a hopeful call to collaborate

Prof. Dr h.c. Humberto Martin Shikiya, vice president of the Regional Ecumenical Advisory and Service Center (CREAS) In Argentina, reflects on how Serving a Wounded World in Interreligious Solidarity: A Christian Call to Reflection and Action During COVID-19 and Beyond” is being received as a hopeful call to collaborate ecumenically and interreligiously. The World Council of Churches (WCC) and the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue jointly published Serving a Wounded World” to encourage churches and Christian organizations to reflect on the importance of interreligious solidarity in a world wounded by the COVID-19 pandemic.

سيحصل مجلس الكنائس العالمي على جائزة بناة الجسور Bridge Builder لبنائه جسراً من التفاهم بين الشعوب والأمم والمجتمعات المحلية على الصعيدين الوطني والدولي. وستقدم الجائزة لجنة التحكيم من لجنة النرويج 14 أغسطس إلى جانب مركز أوسلو.

WCC honored with Bridge Builder Award 2021

The World Council of Churches (WCC) is receiving a Bridge Builder Award for building bridges of understanding between people, nations, and communities at national and international levels. The award is presented by the Jury of the 14th August Committee Norway together with The Oslo Center.

Published to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the WCC’s Programme on Interreligious Dialogue and Cooperation, this volume celebrates a common confidence that dialogue can be linked to liberation in ways that can be both faithful and fruitful.

What drives it is a passion that seeks to hold together two distinct concerns that emerged within theological thinking during the latter half of the 20th century and have since freed theological imagination in manifold ways.”

WCC announces winners of essay competition for bringing fresh views on interreligious dialogue

Essays by five young theologians representing different church traditions have been chosen as the winning entries in an essay writing competition organised to mark the 50th anniversary of the World Council of Churches (WCC) Office of Interreligious Dialogue and Cooperation. Chosen by an international panel of judges from the Ecumenical Institute in Bossey and the WCC, the essays cover a range of themes and perspectives related to the topic of the competition, The Future of Interreligious Dialogue.”

International colloquium focuses on interreligious solidarity

An international colloquium on the theme “Who is my Neighbour?” brought together speakers and participants from around the world to reflect on the World Council of Churches (WCC)-Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue (PCID) joint document “Serving  a Wounded World in Interreligious Solidarity.” The colloquium was organised by the Church of Ireland’s journal SEARCH, in conjunction with the Anglican chaplaincy of Trinity College Dublin.
