Under the theme “That the World May Know”, the Global Christian Forum (GCF) kicks off its Fourth Global Gathering, in Accra, Ghana, on Tuesday, 16 April. 

Religious leaders participated in a candlelight ceremony at the Global Refugee Forum on 14 December, bringing a spiritual touch to the world’s largest international gathering on refugees, which is taking place from 13-15 December in Geneva.

During an inter-religious ceremony, refugees, religious leaders, and UN Refugee Agency representatives gathered on 12 December in the Ecumenical Centre chapel to pray, sing, and listen deeply to one another. Titled “This is My Story, This is My History,” the ceremony offered prayers from various traditions including Buddhist, Jewish, Bahá’í, Muslim, Hindu, and Christian.

Canadian churches—including the Anglican Church, Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Evangelical Lutheran Church, Presbyterian Church, and United Church—prepared a report for Canada’s Universal Periodic Review. 

The World Council of Churches (WCC) and International Committee of the Global Christian Forum, during a meeting held 2-5 November at the Ecumenical Institute at Bossey, finalized plans for the a global gathering in 2024 in Accra, Ghana; renewed a five-year contract with Global Christian Forum secretary Casely Esssmuah; and signed a renewed memorandum of understanding that affirms the two organisations’ distinct and complementary roles in the quest for Christian unity.

The Global Christian Forum International Committee is convening at the Ecumenical Institute at Bossey from 2-5 November. 

On 27 October Korean Theology Forum on Climate Crisis organized a conference “The Response of the WCC to the Climate Crisis and its Policy for Carbon Neutrality” for the formation of church leaders, pastors and students interested in ways to connect local activities to the global horizon. The conference was sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of the Republic of Korea.
