The World Council of Churches and its partners hosted a side event during COP27 that explored “Delivering the promise: How to ensure present and future adaptation needs are addressed.”

It has been 46 years since the Turkish invasion of Cyprus led to the partitioning of the island, the northern third inhabited by Turkish Cypriots and the southern two-thirds by Greek Cypriots, whose government is internationally recognized. At a 12 August press conference in Amman, the Patriarch of the Holy City of Jerusalem, All Palestine and Jordan Theophilos III said that a decision delivered on the 7 August by Israel’s Jerusalem District Court regarding two hotels near the Jaffa Gate in Jerusalem’s Old City has “crossed the lines of justice and reasonableness.”
