En una declaración conjunta, el Consejo Mundial de Iglesias (CMI), la Conferencia de Iglesias de Toda el África (AACC), la Comunidad de Consejos Cristianos e Iglesias de los Grandes Lagos y el Cuerno de África (FECCLAHA) y ACT Alianza expresan su profunda preocupación y condenan firmemente la escalada de hostilidades en Sudán, y en particular los recientes ataques en la ciudad de Puerto Sudán perpetrados por las Fuerzas de Apoyo Rápido.

Dans une déclaration commune, le Conseil œcuménique des Églises, la Conférence des Églises de toute l’Afrique, la Communauté des Églises et conseils chrétiens de la région des Grands Lacs et de la Corne de l’Afrique et l’Alliance ACT ont fait part de leurs vives inquiétudes concernant la violente aggravation des hostilités au Soudan, en particulier les récentes attaques des Forces de soutien rapide contre la ville de Port-Soudan. Joint statement on attack on Port Sudan appeals for immediate cease of hostilities

In a joint statement, the World Council of Churches, All Africa Conference of Churches, Fellowship of Christian Councils and Churches in the Great Lakes and Horn of Africa, and ACT Alliance expressed deep concern and strong condemnation of the violent escalation of hostilities in Sudan, specifically the recent attacks on the city of Port Sudan by the Rapid Support Forces.

Statement on Ecumenical Solidarity with Sudan

It has been more than a year since large-scale fighting broke out between the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). This conflict between two former allies in the 2021 military coup that toppled the previous transitional government has almost destroyed a country whose people had already suffered through many years of protracted and multidimensional crises.

In solidarity visit to Sudan, WCC strengthens foundations for peace

The World Council of Churches led a delegation on a visit to Sudan from 18-22 April. The ecumenical group included the World Council of Churches (WCC), All Africa Conference of Churches, ACT Alliance, Association of Member Episcopal Conferences in Eastern Africa Global Ministries, Fellowship of Christian Councils and Churches in the Great Lakes and Horn of Africa, General Board Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church, and Norwegian Church Aid. 

Religious leaders observe elections in Democratic Republic of Congo

To promote transparent, democratic, and peaceful elections in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the All Africa Conference of Churches, with the World Council of Churches (WCC) and Fellowship of Christian Councils and Churches in the Great Lakes and Horn of Africa, appointed international ecumenical observers to observe the elections on 20 December.

WCC executive committee urges “support and accompaniment to the churches and people of Sudan”

In a statement, the World Council of Churches (WCC) executive committee affirmed its support for the churches of Sudan in their witness and ministry. The statement welcomed an ecumenical solidarity visit to Sudan on 20-25 April undertaken jointly by the WCC, All Africa Conference of Churches, and Fellowship of Christian Councils and Churches in the Great Lakes and the Horn of Africa.
