Statement: Religious Leaders Unite for Climate Peace in Solidarity with Refugees

Reinforcing the traditional role of faith communities in offering sanctuary and, indeed hospitality to refugees, 90 faith-based leaders today committed to offering their continued and additional support to refugees, including children, on their journey to safety, including in reception and admission, meeting protection or service delivery needs and supporting communities to find solutions such as private sponsorship or scholarship programmes.

This webinar will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth (on 19 August 1921) of Philip Potter, World Council of Churches general secretary from 1972 to 1984, and a pivotal figure in the ecumenical movement from the very beginnings of the WCC at its 1st Assembly in Amsterdam in 1948 when he was the spokesperson for youth.

European Reformation Roadmap launch

The year 2017 marks the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. A chain of commemorative events, starting in Geneva, will connect cities in the Netherlands, Italy, Hungary, Switzerland, Slovenia, Ireland and Germany. Each stop-over will last 36 hours: regional and ecumenical partners will invite people to a festive occasion with numerous activities, in order to discover local traces of Reformation history.
