El Consejo Mundial de Iglesias (CMI) ha ofrecido aportaciones para la elaboración de la Nueva Agenda para la Paz de la ONU, un proceso destinado a actualizar el enfoque de las Naciones Unidas sobre la paz y la seguridad en el contexto mundial actual. En las aportaciones presentadas, inspiradas en gran medida en la declaración de la 11a Asamblea del CMI sobre “Lo que conduce a la paz”, el CMI se centra en particular en la necesidad de prestar un mayor apoyo financiero y práctico a la construcción de la paz a escala local y nacional, en vez de a la división y la confrontación miliar.
