Applications are now open for YATRA (Youth in Asia Training for Religious Amity), an interreligious training programme launched by the World Council of Churches (WCC) in 2014 following its 10th Assembly in Busan, Republic of Korea.

This workshop will bring together around 20 participants from Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Islamic, Jewish and other traditions to reflect on the concept of just transitions from faith lenses as well as to discuss the role of faiths in enabling transformation.

Up to 200 Indigenous participants from around the globe, representing regional,
national and local ecumenical Indigenous networks, communities, and churches
will gather in Rotorua New Zealand.

YATRA (Youth in Asia Training for Religious Amity) is an inter-religious training programme of the WCC. The intensive training course, held annually since 2014, seeks to enable young Christian leaders from Asian churches to contribute towards the building up of just, harmonious and peaceable communities by equipping them for ministries of justice and peace from an inter-religious perspective.

Conference on World Mission and Evangelism is the long tradition of the International Mission Council and the World Council of Churches’ (WCC) Commission on World Mission and Evangelism (CWME), organized every decade.

The WCC held the 1st consultative meeting on ecumenical global health strategy in Maseru, Lesotho on 27 February 2017. A second consultation takes place in Geneva on 24 May, to reinforce the unique contribution of the ecumenical movement to global health issues, and to strengthen the coherence of the ecumenical global health strategy being developed.

Who is building peace in South Sudan? Peacebuilding is generally perceived as the task of state actors, political parties and international bodies. This event aims to shed light on the peacebuilding contribution of unsung peace agents and grassroots civil society.

Religious actors representing different faiths from a broad range of countries participate in the meeting, including Burundi, the Central African Republic, Chad, Cote d'Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Guinea, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Nigeria, Rwanda, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe. They will work together over two days to develop a strategy to prevent and counter incitement to discrimination, hostility and violence in the region.

The event is co-organized by the United Nations Office on Genocide Prevention and the Responsibility to Protect, the International Dialogue Centre (KAICIID), the World Council of Churches, and the Network for Religious and Traditional Peacemakers.

This two-week residential training programme is for young leaders aged between 20-35 years from the WCC member churches from Asia. Centred on the theme “Passionately Christian and Compassionately Interreligious” the training will equip participants to engage in ministries of justice and peace in pluralistic contexts from an interreligious perspective.
