To coincide with World Mental Health Day on 10 October, the World Council of Churches' (WCC) announces its 13th Global Ecumenical Health Network Meeting on 11 October. This year's theme stresses, "Mental health is a universal human right," spotlighting the vital role of faith communities in mental wellbeing.

A webinar on 1 March—Zero Discrimination Day—will explore the theme “COVID-19, Casteism and Caste discrimination: How to mitigate pandemic-reinforced inequality and discrimination.”

The World Council of Churches, ACT Alliance, Lutheran World Federation and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America are proposing a panel discussion to highlight the work of faith communities and especially indigenous, women and young faith leaders in mobilizing collective global action to protect nature and biodiversity and deliver critical reflections on enhanced biodiversity governance for climate resilience and posterity.

L’apparition de la COVID‑19 a exacerbé la violence, à tel point qu’en septembre 2020, 121 pays ont institué et adopté de nouvelles mesures pour apporter un soutien et/ou des soins aux femmes survivantes de violences dans le cadre de leurs plans de réponse à la COVID‑19.

El surgimiento de la pandemia de COVID-19 ha exacerbado la violencia hasta tal punto que, en septiembre de 2020, 121 países habían instituido y aprobado, en el marco de sus planes de respuesta ante la COVID-19, nuevas medidas de apoyo y/o asistencia a las mujeres víctimas de la violencia.

Statistics gathered by the UN in 2017 indicated that 87,000 women were killed because of their gender. Of those murders, 58 percent – 137 women each day - were killed by a member of their own family or intimate partner. The onset of Covid-19 has exacerbated the violence, so much so, that by September 2020, 121 countries instituted and adopted new measures to provide support and/or care for women survivors of violence as part of their Covid-19 response plans.  

The WCC’s Commission of the Churches on International Affairs (CCIA) will meet on 2-6 November in Johannesburg and online, reviewing its work between the two WCC assemblies and preparing for the upcoming WCC 11th Assembly in Karlsruhe, Germany.

The World Council of Churches Commission on World Mission and Evangelism will hold an online meeting 9-11 November to evaluate its work and impact from the 10th WCC Assembly in Busan in 2013 to the 11th WCC Assembly in Karlsruhe in 2022.
