Evangelical Mission in Solidarity on journey together with WCC

On 14 November, Rev. Anne Heitmann was elected chair of the Presidium of Evangelical Mission in Solidarity (EMS). She is also head of the Ecumenism and Church Worldwide department of the Protestant Church in Baden. She shared her past experiences as a World Council of Churches (WCC) central committee member, and how she envisions EMS continuing to journey with the World Council of Churches. 

Executive committee forms source of hope for WCC leader

The meeting of our World Council of Churches (WCC) executive committee began at the Diocesan Center of the Orthodox Church of Cyprus in Paralimni. In my report as moderator, I spoke about sources of hope in a world that sometimes seems to give so little cause for hope. And I spoke about how we, as the World Council of Churches, can fulfill the prophetic mission of the church in the face of this world situation.

Church leaders ask for immediate ceasefire in Lebanon

An online meeting was convened on 4 October by the World Council of Churches (WCC) to express solidarity and support, and to provide a safe and constructive space for sharing, reflection, and discussion on the critical challenges currently facing Lebanon. The Middle East Council of Churches and ACT Alliance also participated in the virtual meeting. 

WCC shares insights with International Christian Maritime Association

Rev. Dr Benjamin Simon, director of the World Council of Churches (WCC) Commission on Ecumenical Education and Formation and dean of the WCCs Ecumenical Institute at Bossey, led a workshop on Building Ecumenism” for the International Christian Maritime Association Members’ Meeting in Geneva on 5 September.
